Are classroom cameras a security risk?▼
They can be, if they’re set up casually. Cameras and recorders with default passwords, outdated firmware and open remote access have exposed live feeds to strangers in the past. Secured properly, they’re a useful service for parents. We put camera systems on their own network, change default credentials, keep firmware current, disable unused remote features and route parent viewing through the vendor’s authenticated portal. We also review who has access on a schedule, including former staff.
Why shouldn’t teachers share one app login?▼
Shared logins make it impossible to know who posted a photo, changed an attendance record or read a parent message. They also mean a departing teacher keeps access unless you change the password for everyone, which rarely happens. Individual logins let you assign roles by classroom and remove access the same day someone leaves. Most child care platforms support this already, and teachers usually find their own login simpler once it’s set up.
We’re a Head Start program. Are there specific data rules?▼
Yes. The Head Start Program Performance Standards include requirements for protecting the privacy of child records, covering how personally identifiable information is maintained, who can access it and when it can be disclosed. Your program’s policies and your grants staff interpret those rules. We implement the technical safeguards around them: access controls by role, encrypted storage, audit logs, secure sharing with partners and documented procedures your monitoring review can examine.
Do parent communication apps fall under COPPA?▼
COPPA focuses on online services that collect personal information directly from children under 13, while most child care apps are used by parents and staff. Even so, those apps hold children’s photos, names and daily details, so how the vendor handles that data matters. We help you review vendor privacy terms, limit staff access, control photo sharing settings and make sure families understand what the app collects. Your attorney can advise on legal questions.
How should we handle custody orders and pickup lists?▼
As safety-critical data. Authorized pickup lists and custody restrictions need to be accurate at the front door and protected from anyone who shouldn’t see them. We make sure your check-in platform displays the right information to staff at pickup, restrict who can edit those records, log changes and store court documents in encrypted storage rather than email. Any change to a pickup list should follow a verification procedure your director controls.
Can you support a group of centers?▼
Yes. Multi-center operators benefit from consistent setups: the same camera network design, the same tablet configuration, one parent platform admin model and one help desk. We manage everything remotely and roll out changes across all centers at once. When a center needs hands-on work, such as installing a camera network switch or improving classroom Wi-Fi, our engineers handle it locally near our offices or direct a vetted local technician on site.

What does Early Childhood Education IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
