Do charter schools have to follow FERPA?▼
Charter schools that receive federal education funding are generally subject to FERPA, which governs access to and disclosure of student education records. That affects who can view records in your SIS, how you share data with vendors and how you respond to parent requests. Your administration and counsel make the legal calls. We handle the technical side: role-based access, MFA, audit logs, restricted exports and a vendor vetting process that keeps data sharing documented.
What does CIPA require for E-Rate?▼
Schools receiving E-Rate discounts for internet access or internal connections must certify compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act. That includes a technology protection measure that blocks obscene and harmful content, an internet safety policy adopted after public notice, and monitoring of minors’ online activities. Policy adoption and certification are your board’s responsibility. We deploy and tune the filtering technology and keep records that support your E-Rate paperwork and any later review.
How do you handle filtering on take-home Chromebooks?▼
We use filtering that follows the device rather than the network, so the same rules apply at home, at a library or on a parent’s hotspot. Policies can differ by grade and time of day. Teachers and administrators get a simple way to request unblocks for legitimate resources. We also set up alerts for concerning searches where your school wants them, routed to the counselors or administrators your safety plan names.
Teachers keep signing up for free apps. Is that a problem?▼
It can be. Many free apps collect student names, work and usage data, and some share or sell it. Without an agreement, you may not know where student information goes. For younger students, COPPA also matters: schools can often consent on parents’ behalf for educational use, but only for that purpose. We set up a quick request process so teachers can keep using good tools while you keep an inventory and privacy agreements on file for every approved tool.
Can you support a network with several campuses?▼
Yes. Multi-campus networks benefit most from central management: one device console, one identity system, one filtering policy set and one help desk. Each campus gets a consistent network design, documentation and monitoring. Campus-specific needs, like a different grade span or building layout, get handled within the shared standard. On-site work at each campus is done by our engineers locally near our offices or by a vetted local technician we direct.
What happens to devices and accounts over the summer?▼
Summer is when we do the heavy lifting. Graduating and departing students get archived and removed on a schedule you approve. Departing staff lose access, and new hires get accounts ready before in-service. Devices are collected, inventoried, repaired or retired, updated and re-enrolled. We also review the filter, the app inventory and network capacity for the year ahead, so the first week of school isn’t spent fixing what broke in June.

What does Charter Schools IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
