Do you manage our BMS and power systems?▼
No, and we're careful about that line. Building management, electrical power monitoring and cooling controls belong to your facilities team and the OEMs or integrators who support them. Our role is the IT side and the boundary: the networks those systems sit on, firewall rules, secure vendor access, monitoring of the connections in and out, and protection for the servers and workstations used to operate them. Any change inside the equipment goes through your facilities team and the vendor.
How do you stop social engineering against our NOC?▼
We make verification a required step rather than a judgment call. Requests to add access, move equipment or perform remote hands work get checked against the customer's authorized contact list, ideally through the portal with MFA rather than by phone or email alone. Anything unusual triggers a callback to a number already on file. We build those steps into your ticketing workflow, train NOC staff on common pretexts and log every approval so it can be reviewed later.
Can you help with our SOC 2 audit?▼
Yes, with the IT and security controls. We help operate and document identity management, access reviews, change management, logging, endpoint protection and incident response, then gather evidence your auditor will request. Physical security controls like mantraps and guard procedures stay with your facilities and security teams, but we can help tie their logs and records into the evidence package. The audit report itself comes from your CPA firm. Our own internal practices are SOC 2 aligned.
What about our out-of-band management network?▼
It deserves as much care as anything in your facility, because it controls the infrastructure underneath everything else. We isolate it from corporate and customer networks, require MFA through a jump host for access, remove default credentials from console servers, BMCs and PDUs, and log every session. We also review which staff and vendors can reach it. A surprising number of incidents start with a forgotten management interface still using its factory password.
We already have network engineers. Where do you fit?▼
Data center operators often have excellent network and facilities engineers who are fully occupied with customer infrastructure. We take on corporate IT and security operations alongside them: identity, endpoints, SOC monitoring, email security, backups and audit evidence. Through co-managed IT we share ticketing and documentation, agree on who owns what, and stay out of customer-facing network changes unless you ask. Your team keeps its focus on the facility. Everyone knows where the handoff sits.
How do you monitor for threats?▼
Corporate servers, NOC workstations and laptops run endpoint protection with managed detection and response and 24/7 SOC monitoring. Suspicious activity is investigated and contained, and our engineers follow up during business hours, with after-hours emergency response for active incidents. We can also forward logs from firewalls and boundary systems around facility networks, so connections that shouldn't exist get flagged. You get regular reports in plain language your leadership can actually use.
Do you provide Data Center Operators IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers data center operators IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. For most Houston-area clients we can be on-site the same day when something needs hands-on attention, and our help desk is available during business hours, with after-hours emergency support. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Data Center Operators IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
