Signals in, operators on, dispatch out, even when something fails

Alarm Monitoring Companies IT Services

An alarm monitoring center can't miss a signal: every burglary, fire, panic and medical alarm has to reach an operator, who reaches a keyholder or a dispatcher, without a gap.

At a glance

That chain runs through receivers, the automation platform, operator workstations, telephony, video verification and dealer portals, and every link is a target or a single point of failure.

We support the IT behind it for central stations and monitoring companies in Texas and nationwide: networks, servers and cloud tenants around your automation platform, operator desktops, failover between sites, Microsoft 365 and 24/7 SOC monitoring through managed detection and response.

U.S.-based engineers work remotely, coordinating with your platform and receiver vendors.

IT that keeps signals landing, operators online, dispatch moving.

Receivers, automation and operator stations protected and redundant, so no alarm waits on a broken network.

Central station

No signal can wait on the network

Your subscribers pay for one thing: when the panel sends a signal, a trained operator acts on it fast. Behind that simple promise sits a stack of receivers, servers, phone lines and software that has to stay up through storms, power cuts and attacks. Here's where monitoring centers get hurt, and how we harden every link.

01 · The pressure

A central station never gets a quiet night off

Signals arrive over IP, cellular and the last of the phone lines into your receivers, then into the automation platform where operators see account details, passcodes, call lists and video. Operators call keyholders, verify, and dispatch police or fire, sometimes electronically to a PSAP. Dealers log in to manage their accounts. If the automation platform, receivers or phones stall even briefly, signals queue up while someone's alarm is going off.

  • Receivers feeding the automation platform
  • Operators verifying and dispatching
  • Dealers managing accounts through portals

02 · How it breaks

Dealer logins, flat networks and one data center

A dealer's portal password gets phished, and the attacker places accounts on test or pulls subscriber passcodes and call lists. Operator workstations browse the web on the same network as the receivers. The vendor's remote access tool sits on the automation server with a shared login. Backup sites exist on paper, but failover hasn't been tested since the last software upgrade. Ransomware, a fiber cut or a power event exposes all of it at once.

  • Phished dealer logins placing accounts on test
  • Operator desktops sharing the receiver network
  • Failover that nobody has tested lately

03 · What we change

Segmented center, guarded portals, tested failover

We segment receivers, automation servers, operator workstations and corporate systems so a phished desktop can't reach signal processing. Operator stations get locked down to the apps they need. We push MFA for staff and dealer portal users where your platform supports it, with alerts on bulk test placements and data exports. Vendor access goes through a logged gateway. We design diverse carriers and test failover to your backup site on a schedule.

  • Receivers and automation on protected segments
  • MFA and alerts on dealer portal activity
  • Scheduled failover tests to the backup site

04 · The after

Listings, dealers and insurers get real answers

When your listing inspector, insurer or a large dealer asks how the center is protected, you hand over network diagrams, access reviews and failover test results. A phished dealer login triggers alerts before accounts go dark. Operators work on clean, fast stations instead of fighting pop-ups. If a primary site goes down, you know from recent tests how the backup performs, and you can show that to everyone who depends on you.

  • Failover results you can show inspectors
  • Dealer account misuse caught early
  • Operator stations kept clean and fast

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Automation Platform Infrastructure

Platforms like Manitou, SIMS and MicroKey run on servers, databases and networks that have to stay healthy. We manage that surrounding infrastructure, including patching windows coordinated with your vendor, database backups, capacity monitoring and access control, while application configuration stays with you and the platform vendor.

Receiver & Signal Path Protection

Receivers such as Sur-Gard and DMP units, plus IP and cellular communicator services, feed every signal you handle. We protect the network around them with segmentation, redundant paths and monitoring for link failures. Changes inside receiver firmware or configuration stay with the manufacturer or your engineering team.

Dealer & Subscriber Portal Security

Dealer portals hold subscriber addresses, passcodes and call lists. We help you require MFA where supported, set alerts for mass test placements or exports and build a fast procedure for suspending a compromised dealer login, so one phished password doesn't put dozens of accounts at risk.

Operator Workstation Lockdown

Operator desktops should run the automation client, telephony and video tools, and little else. We lock them down with application control, endpoint detection, no local admin rights and web filtering, and we keep a standard image so a failed station gets rebuilt and back on the floor quickly.

Redundancy & Site Failover

We design diverse internet carriers, redundant firewalls and connections to your backup or partner center, then test failover on a schedule. Each test produces a written result showing what worked and what didn't, so redundancy is something you've proved on paper and on the floor, not something you assume.

Telephony & Video Verification Networks

Operators depend on voice lines to reach keyholders and dispatchers, and on video feeds to verify alarms. We size and protect the SIP and network paths for both, prioritize voice traffic, monitor quality and isolate incoming video streams so they don't become a route into your core systems.

Fewer Gaps in Signal Handling

Segmented networks, monitored links and redundant carriers mean a single failure is far less likely to delay signals. When something does break, alerts reach us and your management quickly, and failover paths are already proven.

Dealers Who Trust Your Platform

Dealers bring you accounts based on trust. Showing them MFA, monitoring and a clear incident process for portal misuse strengthens those relationships and gives you something concrete to say when prospective dealers ask about security.

Evidence for Listing Inspections

If your center holds a UL 827 listing or pursues one, inspections look closely at how systems are protected and recovered. Diagrams, access reviews, patch records and failover results are maintained continuously, so inspection prep is a review, not a rebuild.

Faster Response to Attacks

Managed detection and response with 24/7 SOC monitoring watches your servers, workstations and identities for threats. Suspicious activity gets flagged and contained quickly, and our engineers work business hours, with after-hours emergency response for active incidents.

Our Process

1
Map every signal path, from communicator services and receivers through automation servers to operator stations, telephony and PSAP links.
2
Review vendor remote access, dealer portal settings, user accounts and how your backup site is connected and tested.
3
Segment receivers, automation, operator and corporate networks, and lock operator workstations down to required applications.
4
Move vendor access behind a logged gateway, add MFA for staff and dealers where supported and set portal activity alerts.
5
Connect servers, workstations and identities to 24/7 SOC monitoring and set alerts for signal path and carrier failures.
6
Run a scheduled failover test to the backup site, document results and fix gaps before the next inspection cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you configure our automation software or receivers?▼
No. Your automation platform and receivers are configured by your team and their vendors, and changes there can affect your listing. We manage what surrounds them: servers or cloud tenants, operating system patching coordinated with the vendor, networks, firewalls, backups, monitoring and access control. When a vendor needs a firewall change or new connection, we work with them directly, so the platform keeps running and the security around it stays intact.
What does an attack through a dealer portal look like?▼
Usually a dealer employee gets phished and their portal login is used by someone else. The attacker might view subscriber details, export call lists and passcodes or place accounts on test so alarms at certain sites don't get worked. We help you require MFA where your platform supports it, set alerts for unusual test placements and exports and write a procedure for suspending a dealer login and notifying the dealer quickly when something looks wrong.
Can you help with our UL 827 listing?▼
We can support the IT side. UL 827 covers central station alarm services, and UL 1981 covers central station automation systems; some recent requirements touch remote access and encryption. We don't hold or grant listings, and your listing body decides what passes. What we do is keep your network design, access controls, patch records, backups and failover testing documented and current, so the technology questions during inspection have clear answers backed by records.
How do we know our backup central station will actually work?▼
By testing it on a schedule, not just after something breaks. We plan failover tests with your operations team and platform vendor, run them during lower-volume periods and document how signals, operator access, telephony and dealer portals behaved. Each test produces findings we fix before the next one. Over time you get a record showing redundancy works, which is also exactly what inspectors, insurers and large dealers want to see.
Our operators also use their stations for email and web. Is that a problem?▼
It's one of the most common ways attackers get into monitoring centers. Email attachments and web downloads are how malware arrives, and an operator station sits close to your most critical systems. We lock stations down to the automation client, telephony and verification tools, move email to separate devices or a controlled virtual desktop and filter web access. Operators lose a few distractions and your center loses a major attack path.
How do phone line changes affect our center?▼
As carriers retire copper lines, more signals arrive over IP and cellular, and more of your voice traffic runs over SIP. That shifts risk toward your internet connections, firewalls and receiver networks. We design redundant carriers, prioritize voice and signal traffic and monitor both paths. We also help you plan capacity as subscriber communicators migrate, so the receiver side keeps up without surprises. Communicator selection on subscriber panels stays with your dealers.
