Keep the taproom taking cards, the brewhouse logging and TTB reports filed

Breweries IT Services

A craft brewery is part factory, part restaurant and part distributor, and each side leans on different systems that usually share one network.

At a glance

When the taproom POS goes down on a Saturday, guest Wi-Fi exposes the office, or the brewery software holding batch and inventory records gets locked by ransomware, you lose sales and the data you need to file TTB reports and pay excise tax.

We run managed IT and cybersecurity for production breweries, brewpubs and taprooms.

We separate POS, guest Wi-Fi, office and brewhouse networks, keep Toast or Arryved terminals and kitchen printers working, protect brewery management software and social accounts, and back up the records behind your Brewer’s Report of Operations. We support breweries in Texas and nationwide.

IT that keeps taps pouring, TTB reports filed, kegs going out.

Managed IT and security for breweries and taprooms, from the brewhouse floor to the Saturday rush.

Brewery IT

Brewhouse, taproom and loading dock, one network

Most breweries grew their network one gadget at a time: a POS here, a guest Wi-Fi router there, a laptop for brewery software, a camera system, a canning line vendor’s remote box. It works until it doesn’t. Here’s how breweries get hurt, what we change, and what a busy weekend looks like afterward.

01 · The pressure

Production, pints and paperwork all at once

Brewers log batches, gravity readings and transfers in brewery software that also drives inventory and excise calculations. The taproom runs POS terminals, handhelds and kitchen printers, plus a mug club and online orders. Sales reps track distributor orders and keg returns. The office files the Brewer’s Report of Operations and pays excise tax online. If the taproom network drops on a Saturday or batch records go missing before a TTB filing, the cost lands immediately.

  • Batch records feed TTB reports and excise tax
  • Taproom POS carries weekend revenue
  • Distributor orders and keg tracking daily

02 · How it breaks

Guest Wi-Fi and the POS share a router

In many taprooms, guest Wi-Fi, POS terminals, the office PC and security cameras sit on the same consumer-grade router. A manager PIN on the POS is shared by every bartender. The brewery’s Instagram and email use the same password, and once one is phished, an attacker posts scams and emails your distributor a fake invoice. A canning line or glycol vendor installed a remote access box years ago that nobody remembers and nobody patches.

  • Guest Wi-Fi on the same network as POS
  • Shared manager PINs behind the bar
  • Social and email accounts with reused passwords

03 · What we change

Separate the taps from the books

We install business-grade networking with separate segments for POS, guest Wi-Fi, office, cameras and brewhouse equipment, plus cellular failover so cards keep running if the internet drops. POS staff get individual logins and permissions. Email, social media and brewery software get MFA and a password manager. Vendor remote access for canning and glycol systems moves to a controlled, on-demand connection, with equipment changes left to the vendor. Brewery and accounting data get daily, tested backups.

  • Separate networks for POS, guests and office
  • Cellular failover for taproom card payments
  • MFA on email, social and brewery software

04 · The after

Saturdays run and month-end reconciles

The taproom takes cards through a packed release day even if the internet provider has a bad afternoon. Guests get fast Wi-Fi that can’t see your office. Every POS void and comp ties to a named person. Your social accounts and distributor emails stay yours. When it’s time to file the Brewer’s Report of Operations, batch and inventory records are complete and backed up. And you spend Monday brewing instead of resetting routers.

  • Cards keep running through internet outages
  • Every void and comp tied to a named person
  • Complete records for TTB filings each period

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Taproom POS and Network Support

We keep Toast, Arryved or Square terminals, handhelds, kitchen printers and card readers working, with business-grade Wi-Fi that covers the beer garden and the back of the house. Cellular failover keeps payments running if your internet drops. When a terminal acts up mid-shift, we troubleshoot remotely and coordinate with the POS provider when the issue is on their side.

Network Segmentation for Mixed Spaces

Guest Wi-Fi, POS, office computers, security cameras and brewhouse equipment each get their own network segment. Guests can’t see your office files, a compromised camera can’t reach the POS, and the PCI DSS scope around card payments stays small. Event nights and food truck partners get their own access without touching your systems.

Brewery Software and Records Protection

Batch logs, inventory, transfers and removals in brewery software feed your TTB reports and excise tax. We secure those accounts with MFA, manage user access as brewers come and go, and back up exports along with accounting data so a lost login or account problem doesn’t erase the records you need at filing time.

Social Media and Email Account Security

Your Instagram, Facebook, Untappd and email accounts are how customers find releases and events. We put them behind a password manager with MFA, remove former employees and agencies, and set up recovery options you control. If an account gets compromised, we help you lock it down and recover it quickly.

Brewhouse Vendor Access Control

Canning lines, glycol chillers and brewhouse automation sometimes come with vendor remote access. We find those connections, move them to an on-demand, logged method and keep them off your POS and office networks. Changes to the equipment’s controls stay with the manufacturer; we secure the path they use to reach it.

Distribution and Office Support

Sales reps need reliable laptops and phones for distributor orders, keg tracking and depletion reports. We manage those devices, protect email from spoofed invoices with impersonation warnings and a payment callback rule, and keep the office printers, accounting software and shared files running so the business side keeps pace with production.

Why Choose LayerLogix?

Serving businesses throughout the Greater Houston area including Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Nationwide.

Busy Days Without Payment Outages

Business-grade networking, separate POS segments and cellular failover mean a packed release day keeps taking cards. You don’t end up writing IOUs on napkins or turning people away because a consumer router overheated behind the bar during your biggest weekend of the season.

Accountability Behind the Bar

Individual POS logins with proper permissions tie every void, comp and discount to a person. Managers can see patterns and coach staff, and you stop guessing who used the shared manager PIN at closing time when the drawer comes up short.

Clean Records at Filing Time

Protected brewery software accounts and tested backups keep batch, inventory and removal records intact. When the Brewer’s Report of Operations and excise returns are due, the data is complete instead of reconstructed from brew logs and memory after a lost login or crashed laptop.

Your Brand Accounts Stay Yours

MFA, a password manager and clean recovery settings make social media and email takeovers far less likely. Your release announcements reach the people who follow you, and customers don’t receive scam messages that appear to come from your brewery’s account.

Our Process

1
Walk the brewhouse, taproom, office and any satellite locations to inventory every router, terminal, printer, camera, laptop and vendor connection.
2
List every account the brewery depends on, from POS and brewery software to social media, email, banking and TTB filing access.
3
Install business-grade networking with separate POS, guest, office, camera and brewhouse segments, plus cellular failover, during a closed day or slow morning.
4
Move accounts into a password manager with MFA, set up individual POS logins, and remove former staff and agencies.
5
Set up daily backups of brewery software exports, accounting and shared files, then test a restore before your next filing period.
6
Check in quarterly and before big releases or festivals to review network health, staff changes and anything new plugged in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t guest Wi-Fi share a network with our POS?▼
Because anyone on the same network can try to reach the devices on it. A guest with a compromised laptop, or someone poking around on purpose, could probe your POS terminals, office PC and cameras. It also drags your guest network into PCI DSS scope. Separate segments let guests browse while the POS, office and brewhouse stay invisible to them. Most business-grade access points can broadcast multiple networks from the same hardware, so it rarely means a lot of new equipment.
What TTB records should we be backing up?▼
Breweries operate under TTB regulations in 27 CFR Part 25, which require records of production, transfers, removals and inventory that support your Brewer’s Report of Operations and federal excise tax returns. Most of that lives in your brewery software, with supporting documents in accounting and shared folders. We back up exports from your brewery platform along with accounting data and supporting files, so a lost account, platform issue or crashed laptop doesn’t leave you rebuilding records before a filing. Your accountant decides what the reports need to show.
Our POS is cloud-based. Do we still need network work?▼
Yes. Cloud POS still runs on terminals, handhelds, printers and card readers connected to your local network, and if that network fails, orders and payments stop. Many cloud POS systems have an offline mode, but it has limits you don’t want to test on a Saturday. Reliable Wi-Fi coverage, a separate POS segment and cellular failover keep things working. We also make sure staff have individual logins and that manager permissions aren’t shared across the whole team.
Our brewery Instagram got hacked. Can you help?▼
Yes. First, we help you regain control through the platform’s recovery process, change passwords on any accounts that shared them and check the email account tied to the profile, since that’s often where the takeover started. Then we lock things down: a password manager, MFA on every account, recovery options you control and a clean list of who has access. If the attacker sent messages to followers or distributors, we help you draft a short heads-up so people know to ignore them.
Do you work on our brewhouse automation or canning line?▼
Not inside the equipment. Brewhouse controls, canning lines and glycol systems belong to their manufacturers and your brewers, and changes there should come from the vendor. What we do is find any remote access those vendors installed, move it to a controlled, on-demand connection and keep that equipment on its own network segment, away from POS and office systems. If a vendor needs to connect for troubleshooting, we open the session for them and close it when they’re done.
What if the internet goes down during a big release?▼
With cellular failover in place, your network switches to a backup connection automatically and the POS keeps processing payments. We monitor the primary and backup links so we know when failover kicks in, and we help you get your internet provider moving on the outage. Our team works business hours, with after-hours emergency response for active security incidents. For planned events like anniversary parties and bottle releases, we check the network ahead of time so surprises are less likely.
Do you provide Breweries IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers breweries IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Breweries IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
