How does rent redirection fraud work?▼
An attacker compromises a property manager's or accountant's mailbox, or registers a domain that looks like yours, then emails tenants on familiar letterhead announcing new bank details for rent. Because the message looks routine and arrives from a trusted name, some tenants update their payment and send the next month's rent to the criminal. Stopping it takes MFA on mailboxes, DMARC on your domain, lookalike monitoring, and a standing notice to tenants that your banking details never change by email.
Do you support Yardi Voyager and MRI?▼
We support everything around them: user provisioning and deprovisioning, MFA or SSO, role reviews, integrations with banking and AP tools, and the workstations and network your team uses. Yardi and MRI still support their own product configuration, or you may have a consultant for that. We pay special attention to permissions for editing tenant and vendor banking data, since a compromised account with that right is how property accounting fraud usually happens.
Can you secure our buildings' access control and automation systems?▼
We secure the network around them, not the systems themselves. We work with your controls and security vendors to put access control, cameras and building automation on separate network segments from the management office, limit how vendors connect remotely and log that access. Programming, firmware and device changes stay with the vendors who maintain the equipment. That split keeps building systems running while making sure a phished office laptop can't reach them.
How should we share deal documents with buyers and lenders?▼
Through a controlled space, not email attachments. A virtual data room or a properly configured SharePoint site lets you require sign-in, set expiration dates, log downloads and remove access instantly when a buyer drops out. We configure those settings and train brokers to send links instead of files. That way a rent roll or tenant financial package doesn't keep circulating in inboxes you'll never see, and you can show the seller exactly who looked at what.
What should we tell tenants about payment security?▼
Tell them plainly and repeat it. A short notice in lease packages, onboarding emails and invoices stating that your banking details will never change by email, and that any change request should be confirmed by calling a known number, protects tenants and you. We help draft it and pair it with technical controls so fake messages are less likely to reach them. If a tenant does pay a fraudster, we preserve evidence and help you work with counsel and the bank.
Can you handle IT for newly acquired properties?▼
Yes. We use a standard onboarding checklist for acquisitions: inventory the management office's equipment, internet and phone services, move staff onto your accounts and devices, close out the previous manager's access and segment any building systems we find. Hands-on work is handled locally near our offices, or by a vetted local technician directed by our engineer. The goal is that a new property runs on your standards within a predictable timeline, not on whatever the last manager left behind.
