Bids out on time, drawings in sync, and pay apps that reach the right bank.

Electrical Contractors IT Services

An electrical contractor can lose a job because the estimating server crashed the night before a bid was due. Your work runs on estimating databases, Bluebeam markups, GC project portals, accounting and a field crew that needs current drawings in a job trailer with spotty internet.

At a glance

We keep that stack working: estimating workstations and licenses, file sharing that doesn't overwrite a foreman's redlines, trailer connectivity and the accounts your project managers use on every GC's portal.

We also harden the email and payment workflows that criminals target when a large progress payment is due.

We support electrical contractors in Texas and nationwide, from residential service shops to commercial and industrial firms.

IT that keeps bids going out, drawings current, pay apps paid.

Estimating, drawings, job trailers and progress billing that hold up from bid day to closeout.

Electrical contractors

Bid day, rough-in, inspection, payday

Electrical work moves through a long chain of files and approvals. The estimator prices from takeoffs, the PM works the GC's portal, the foreman installs from the latest revision and the office bills against a schedule of values. Each handoff is a place where a crash, a stale file or a forged email costs real money.

01 · The pressure

A bid due at two and a server that won't boot

Your estimators live in Accubid, McCormick or ConEst, with pricing databases and assemblies built up over years. On bid day, a corrupted database or an expired license key is a lost opportunity. In the field, foremen need the current electrical sheets and RFIs, not last week's set. And the office runs progress billing, change orders and supplier invoices through accounting, where a single delayed payment ripples into payroll for the whole crew.

  • Estimating databases built over many years
  • Drawing revisions changing weekly on active jobs
  • Large progress payments on a monthly cycle

02 · How it breaks

Forged pay apps and borrowed portal logins

Contractors get hit where money changes hands. An attacker inside a PM's mailbox watches a GC thread, then sends the GC 'updated' remittance details right before your largest draw. Distributor invoices get spoofed the same way. Meanwhile, a former PM's login still works on three GC portals, a job trailer runs on a consumer router with the default password, and the estimating PC hasn't had a patch since it was set up.

  • Remittance changes sent from a hijacked mailbox
  • Ex-employee logins left active on GC portals
  • Consumer gear running job trailer networks

03 · What we change

Protected estimates, managed trailers, verified money

We back up estimating databases nightly with tested restores and track license renewals before they lapse. Drawings move to a shared platform with version history, so a field redline never gets overwritten. Job trailers get a managed firewall and cellular or fixed wireless with monitoring. Every employee gets MFA on email, accounting and portals, and we keep an access list so leavers come off every GC system. Payment changes require a call-back to a known number.

  • Nightly estimating backups with restore tests
  • Managed firewalls in every job trailer
  • Call-back rule for any banking change

04 · The after

Bids, jobs and billing stop depending on luck

Estimators stop worrying about bid-night crashes because yesterday's database restores in minutes. Foremen open the current set from the trailer. Your controller sends and receives payments knowing a bank change triggers a phone call, not a wire. When a GC's prequalification form or your insurer asks about MFA, backups and training, you hand over a short, accurate summary instead of a vague promise.

  • Estimating restores tested, not assumed
  • One current drawing set for office and field
  • Prequal and insurance answers backed by records

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Estimating and Takeoff Workstations

We build and maintain the PCs your estimators depend on: enough memory and display space for takeoffs, current Bluebeam and estimating software, license tracking and nightly backups of pricing databases and assemblies. When an update to Accubid, McCormick or ConEst is coming, we test it before bid season instead of during it.

Drawing and Document Control

We set up SharePoint, Procore integrations or another shared platform with version history and sensible permissions. PMs push the current set, foremen open it on tablets in the field, and an overwritten file can be rolled back. Large PDF sets sync without filling up every laptop's disk.

Job Trailer Connectivity

We install managed firewalls, cellular or fixed wireless links, and simple Wi-Fi in job trailers and prefab shops. Each site gets a separate network from the main office, monitoring so we know when it drops, and a teardown checklist so equipment and credentials come back when the job ends.

GC Portal and Access Management

Your PMs and estimators log into many general contractors' portals, plan rooms and bidding sites. We keep a register of who has access to what, enforce password managers and MFA where the portal supports it, and remove access promptly when someone changes roles or leaves the company.

Pay App and Remittance Protection

Progress billings and retainage releases are large and predictable, which makes them targets. We lock down mailboxes, filter impersonation attempts, set DMARC on your domain and write a verification procedure for any change to your or a supplier's banking information. Your accounting team gets short, specific training on the red flags.

Accounting System Support

We support Sage 100 Contractor, Foundation, Viewpoint Vista and QuickBooks environments: hosting or server care, user roles, backups, and the integrations with payroll and project management. Job cost data stays available and restorable, because losing a month of entries in the middle of a job is a painful rebuild.

Why Choose LayerLogix?

No More Bid-Night Disasters

Tested backups of estimating data and maintained workstations mean a crash costs you an hour of restore, not a missed bid. Estimators work with confidence when they know yesterday's pricing database can be brought back quickly.

Payments Reach Your Account

Verified remittance procedures and protected mailboxes stop the hijacked-email scams that redirect progress payments. Your GCs also see you as a safer partner when your domain can't be spoofed to send them fake bank details.

Field Crews Build From Current Sets

Reliable trailer connectivity and version-controlled drawings cut down on rework from stale revisions. Foremen pull the latest sheets and RFIs on site, and the office can see that the field has them without driving out to check.

Cleaner Prequalification Answers

General contractors and owners increasingly ask cybersecurity questions during prequalification. We help you answer them accurately, with documentation of MFA, backups, endpoint protection and training that stands up when a GC, owner or insurer asks you for proof.

Our Process

1
We map how a job flows from takeoff and estimate to award, installation, progress billing and closeout, noting every system, file share and portal involved.
2
We review estimating, accounting and email for backups, licensing, MFA and admin rights, and list the gaps by risk to bids and payments.
3
We enroll office PCs, estimating workstations, laptops and tablets in endpoint protection and device management with named, MFA-protected accounts.
4
We set up document control with version history and give job trailers managed connectivity separate from the main office network.
5
We write the payment verification procedure with your controller, configure email authentication and train accounting and PMs on remittance fraud.
6
We support your team during business hours, monitor networks and backups, and review portal access and trailer equipment at each job closeout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you support our estimating software?▼
We support the computers, servers, licensing, backups and network that Accubid, McCormick, ConEst and similar tools rely on. The software vendor still handles product-specific questions like assembly logic or pricing updates. In practice, most estimating outages we're asked about come from the IT side: a full disk, a failed update, a corrupted database with no recent backup, or a license server that moved. We prevent those and restore quickly when one happens, and we coordinate with the vendor when the issue is inside their product.
What should a job trailer network look like?▼
Keep it simple and separate. A managed firewall with a cellular or fixed wireless connection, Wi-Fi for staff devices, and a separate guest network for visitors and subcontractors. It shouldn't connect directly into your main office network without a secure tunnel and limited access. We monitor each trailer so we know when it goes offline, and we keep an inventory so the equipment comes back and gets reset when the job closes. Consumer routers with default passwords are the thing to avoid.
How do pay app and remittance scams work?▼
An attacker gets into an email account at your company, a GC or a supplier, usually through a phished password. They read the threads, learn when a large payment is due, and send a convincing message with new bank details from the real mailbox or a lookalike domain. The money goes out and is often gone before anyone notices. MFA, impersonation filtering, DMARC on your domain and a rule that banking changes are always confirmed by calling a known number stop most of these attempts.
Do we need different security for generator and storm work?▼
The busy stretch after a major outage brings a flood of new customers, rush financing paperwork and temporary staff. Scammers know it too, and they send fake supplier notices and generator rebate emails. We help you add short-term users with limited permissions, keep scheduling and payment systems stable under the load, and remind staff about common lures before the season. Afterward we remove the temporary accounts and check that nothing was left open.
Our GCs are asking cybersecurity questions in prequalification. Can you help?▼
Yes. Prequalification forms and owner contracts now often ask about MFA, backups, endpoint protection, incident response and training. We document what you actually have, close the gaps that matter, and help you answer accurately without overstating anything. If an owner or prime contract carries specific requirements, such as federal work that involves controlled information, we review the clause with you and tell you what it would take before you sign. Your attorney still reviews the contract terms.
Do you work with our existing accounting and project management tools?▼
Yes. We support Sage 100 Contractor, Foundation, Viewpoint Vista, QuickBooks and Procore environments, whether they're hosted by the vendor or running on your own server. That covers user access, MFA, backups, performance and the integrations between accounting, payroll and project management. We don't push you to switch platforms. If a migration ever makes sense, we plan it around your billing cycle so a cutover never lands in the week progress billings go out.
Do you provide Electrical Contractors IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers electrical contractors IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. For most Houston-area clients we can be on-site the same day when something needs hands-on attention, and our help desk is available during business hours, with after-hours emergency support. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Electrical Contractors IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
