A subcontractor emailed new bank details. How do we verify it?▼
Call the subcontractor at a phone number you already had on file, such as the one in your subcontract or vendor record, and confirm with someone you know. Never use a phone number from the email requesting the change. Attackers frequently compromise the sub’s own mailbox and reply inside a real thread, so the email can look entirely genuine. We help you put this into a written policy, train accounting and project managers, and add email protections that catch many of these messages before anyone reads them.
How do you get internet to a job trailer?▼
It depends on the site. Most trailers use cellular internet from one or two carriers, sometimes with an external antenna, and some sites can get fixed wireless or a temporary cable or fiber drop for longer projects. We install a business-grade router that combines connections and fails over automatically, with separate Wi-Fi for staff and for subs or visitors. Everything is managed remotely, and the kit gets redeployed to the next job when this one demobilizes.
How long should we keep project records?▼
Longer than most people think, and the answer depends on your contracts, your state’s statute of repose for construction defects and your insurer’s advice. Your counsel should set the retention period. What we do is make sure records actually survive that long: photos and dailies sync off field devices, project software data gets exported and backed up, and closed jobs move to archive storage with access controls. That way, when a claim surfaces years later, you’re not searching old laptops for evidence.
Do you support Procore or our accounting system?▼
We support the accounts, devices, integrations and access around them. That includes setting up and removing users, connecting single sign-on where the platform supports it, fixing sync problems on field devices, managing integrations between project management and accounting, and working with the vendor when something breaks on their side. The vendor still owns the software itself. Our job is making sure your team can log in, see what they need and that nothing walks out the door when someone leaves.
Our cyber insurance renewal asks about MFA and backups. Can you help?▼
Yes. Most cyber insurance applications ask about MFA on email and remote access, endpoint detection, backups and how often they’re tested, employee training and wire fraud procedures. We help you answer honestly and provide the evidence behind each answer, like MFA reports, backup test results and your written callback policy. If there are gaps, we fix the ones that matter most to underwriters first. Premium decisions belong to the insurer, but accurate answers with evidence make renewals smoother.
What happens if a superintendent’s laptop gets stolen from a truck?▼
Because the laptop is encrypted and managed, the data on it is unreadable without the user’s credentials, and we can lock and wipe it remotely. Photos and documents should already be synced to central storage, so nothing unique is lost. We disable the user’s sessions, reset their password, review recent sign-ins for anything unusual and ship a replacement preconfigured with their apps. Our team handles this during business hours, with after-hours response if there are signs of an active compromise.

What does General Contractors IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
