At a glance

Those files attract competitors and state-backed spies, and they live on lab PCs, cycler servers and engineering laptops that were often set up in a hurry during a ramp.

We run and secure the IT around that work: protected R&D shares with download alerts, backups for cycler and test data, a firm boundary between the plant floor and the office, and the traceability systems your OEM customers audit.

We work with cell and pack makers, EV and e-mobility startups, and battery recyclers in Texas and nationwide.

IT that keeps recipes private, cycle data intact, every cell traced.

R&D protection, test lab data management and plant network boundaries for companies that build cells, packs and electric vehicles.

EV and battery makers

From coin cell to pack line

Battery work runs on data long before it runs on revenue. Chemists iterate recipes, test engineers run cells for months on cyclers, and the pilot line becomes a production line under OEM scrutiny. Lose the test data and you lose time you can't buy back. Lose the recipe and you lose the company.

01 · The pressure

Months of cycling you can't run again

A cycle-life test can run for months before it tells you anything. Those results sit on cycler control PCs and a lab server, alongside electrode formulations, dry room logs and supplier certificates. On the line, the MES ties every cell serial to its materials and formation data, because your OEM customer expects that trail during a quality escape. If the lab server dies without a backup, the calendar resets.

  • Cycle tests that take months to finish
  • Cell serials tied to materials and formation
  • OEM customers auditing traceability

02 · How it breaks

A visiting researcher and an open lab share

Battery firms lose secrets in ordinary ways. A visiting academic or new hire gets the same file access as the core chemistry team. A test engineer exports a year of cycle data to a personal drive before resigning. The equipment vendor keeps an always-on remote session into the formation system. And the cycler PCs sit on the office network running outdated Windows, so one phishing click can reach the lab.

  • Broad file access for new and visiting staff
  • Bulk exports before a resignation
  • Vendor remote sessions left always on

03 · What we change

Tiered access and a hard lab boundary

We tier R&D data so recipe and process files sit in restricted groups with MFA and download alerts. Cycler and test data gets automated backups with restore tests. Lab instruments and plant systems move behind their own firewall, with vendor remote access brokered, logged and switched on only when needed. Inside the equipment we change nothing ourselves; firmware and control changes go through the OEM or your controls engineer.

  • Restricted groups for recipe and process files
  • Backups for cycler and test data
  • Brokered, time-limited vendor access

04 · The after

Investors and OEMs see a company built to last

When a strategic investor or an OEM sends a security questionnaire, you answer with evidence instead of promises. Your CTO can see who opened restricted chemistry files this quarter. A failed lab server means a restore, not a restarted test program. And when you add a production line or a second site, the network and access model scale with it instead of being rebuilt from scratch.

  • Questionnaires answered with evidence
  • Restricted file access reviewed each quarter
  • A design that scales to a second site

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

R&D and Chemistry IP Protection

Electrode formulations, cell designs and process windows are worth more than any machine in the building. We put them in restricted, labeled locations with MFA, alert on unusual downloads, block personal cloud sync on research devices and run same-day access removal when a researcher or contractor leaves.

Cycler and Test Lab Data Management

Arbin, Maccor and similar cycler systems produce data you can't recreate without repeating months of testing. We back up test results and channel configurations automatically, move data off aging control PCs to protected storage, and test restores so a dead lab server costs hours rather than a test program.

Plant and Lab Network Boundaries

Formation equipment, dry room controls and coating lines should never share a flat network with email. We design zones and firewalls between the plant, the lab and the office, and watch traffic at those edges. Changes inside PLCs, SCADA or battery test equipment stay with the OEM or your controls engineer.

MES and Traceability Support

Your OEM customer wants to trace any cell back to its materials, line and formation results. We keep the servers, databases and integrations behind Siemens Opcenter, AVEVA PI or your MES healthy, patched and backed up, so the genealogy record is complete when a quality question arrives.

Vendor and Integrator Remote Access

Equipment suppliers, many of them overseas, need remote access during commissioning and warranty work. We replace always-on tools with a brokered gateway that requires approval, records the session and shuts off afterward, so a vendor's compromised laptop can't quietly reach your production line. Your plant manager sees every request before it opens.

Startup-to-Scale IT Foundation

Many battery companies go from a lab bench to a pilot line to a factory in a few years. We set up identity, device management, email security and backups early, so each new hire, building or line plugs into a standard design instead of another one-off setup someone has to untangle later.

Trade Secrets Stay Trade Secrets

Access tiers, logging and download alerts make it far harder for chemistry and process knowledge to leave unnoticed. If a dispute ever reaches court, you can also show you took reasonable steps to protect the information.

Test Programs Survive Hardware Failures

Tested backups of cycler and lab data mean a failed control PC or server doesn't erase months of results. Engineers pick up where the data left off, and launch dates don't slip because of a dead disk.

Stronger OEM and Investor Reviews

Automakers, grid customers and investors increasingly review supplier security before signing. Documented controls, clean access reviews and a clear network design shorten those reviews and make your company look ready for volume. They also give your sales team something concrete to send.

A Line That Keeps Running

With plant systems separated from the office, an infected laptop in accounting stays in accounting. Formation, aging and pack assembly keep moving while we clean up the problem on the business side. Production numbers don't take the hit.

Our Process

1
Map where chemistry, process, test and traceability data lives today, including lab PCs, cycler servers, engineering laptops and vendor cloud portals.
2
Classify that data with your CTO into restricted, internal and shareable tiers, and assign groups and owners for each restricted area.
3
Set up automated backups for cycler, lab and MES data, then restore a sample test file and database to prove the copies work.
4
Design network zones for plant, lab and office, and put firewalls at the edges without changing anything inside the production equipment.
5
Replace standing vendor remote tools with a brokered, approved and recorded gateway, coordinated with each equipment supplier's commissioning team.
6
Monitor endpoints and network edges, review restricted access each quarter, and update the design before each new line or site comes online.

Frequently Asked Questions

We're a startup with a pilot line. Is it too early to worry about this?▼
It's actually the cheapest time. A pilot-stage company has fewer users, fewer machines and fewer habits to change. Setting up proper identity, device management, restricted R&D storage and backups now costs far less than unwinding a messy setup after a funding round or a factory build. It also matters for diligence: investors and strategic partners increasingly ask how you protect your IP. Starting early lets you answer with a working system. We size the setup to where you are, then grow it as headcount, lines and sites are added.
Can you back up our Arbin or Maccor cycler data?▼
Yes, in most setups. Cycler software usually writes results to a local database or file store on the control PC, sometimes with a central server. We set up automated copies of that data to protected storage, include channel and schedule configurations where possible, and test restores. We coordinate timing with your test engineers so backups don't interfere with running channels. We don't modify the cycler firmware or test hardware; anything inside the instrument goes through the manufacturer. Our focus is that months of results can't be lost to a dead disk or ransomware.
How do we work with overseas equipment suppliers without exposing the plant?▼
Most battery lines include equipment from suppliers abroad who expect remote access for commissioning, tuning and warranty support. Instead of letting each one install their own always-on tool, we set up a single gateway. A supplier requests a session, someone at your plant approves it, the session is limited to the specific machine and recorded, and access ends when the work is done. The supplier still gets what they need, and you get a record of every connection. Export control and contract questions about sharing data with foreign suppliers belong with your counsel.
What shipping rules touch our IT systems?▼
Lithium cells and batteries are regulated as hazardous materials in transport, and 49 CFR 173.185 sets requirements including UN 38.3 testing. The IT angle is records. Your test summaries, packaging data and shipping documents need to be stored where they can be found, can't be quietly altered and survive a server failure. We don't make hazmat classification decisions; your dangerous goods staff do. We make sure the systems holding those documents are backed up, access-controlled and easy to produce when a customer, carrier or inspector asks for them.
Does the EU battery passport affect a U.S. manufacturer?▼
If you sell batteries into the European Union, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 phases in a digital battery passport for certain categories, including EV and industrial batteries. That means data about materials, carbon footprint and supply chain has to be collected, kept accurate and shared through a defined format. Whether and when it applies to your products is a question for your regulatory team. On the IT side, we help make the underlying systems trustworthy: clean master data, controlled access, change logging and integrations between your ERP, MES and whatever passport platform you choose.
Can you secure our formation and dry room control systems?▼
We secure the network around them and the IT systems they connect to. That means putting them in their own zone, limiting what can talk to them, brokering vendor access and monitoring traffic at the edge. We don't reprogram PLCs, change SCADA logic or alter battery management firmware. Those changes involve safety, quality and warranty considerations that belong with the equipment OEM and your controls engineers. We work alongside them so a security improvement, such as a new firewall rule, is scheduled and tested in a way that doesn't interrupt formation or upset dry room conditions.
