Protect the drawings, test records and export data behind every valve and pump

Valve & Pump Manufacturers IT Services

Valve and pump makers compete on engineering, so the real crown jewels are the 3D models, sizing calculations and test data sitting on your file server and PLM vault.

20+ Years Experience

At a glance

Lose them to a breach or a departing engineer and a competitor gets years of design work; lose your test records and you can't back up the nameplate on a unit already in the field.

We secure and run the IT behind that work: CAD workstations, the PDM or PLM system, the ERP that drives configure-to-order builds and the test-bench PCs that log hydrostatic and performance runs.

We also help you handle export-controlled designs carefully and keep distributors' portal access tight.

We support flow-control manufacturers in Texas and nationwide, with remote engineers and local hands when the test cell needs it.

IT that protects every drawing, every test run, every shipment.

Managed IT and security for the engineering vault, the test cell and the configure-to-order ERP of flow-control manufacturers.

Flow control manufacturing

The design vault is the business

A valve or pump looks simple from the outside. Behind it sit models, material specs, pressure calculations, weld procedures and the test record that proves the unit did what the nameplate says. That record follows the product for its whole service life. Here's where it's exposed, and what we do about it.

01 · The pressure

Engineering, test and order data all have to line up

An order comes in from a distributor or an EPC with a datasheet. Applications engineering sizes it, design pulls models from the vault, the ERP builds the bill of materials, and the shop machines, assembles and sends it to the test cell. The bench PC logs pressure, leakage and performance curves, and quality ties that record to the serial number. Customers on refineries and plants can ask for it years later.

  • CAD models and PLM revisions drive every build
  • Test-bench data is tied to each serial number
  • Distributors and EPCs expect fast datasheets and quotes

02 · How it breaks

IP walks out, test PCs go dark, partners overshare

A departing engineer syncs a personal cloud folder full of models the week before resigning. A distributor's shared portal account gets reused by three people, then phished. The test-bench PC runs an unsupported OS because the data acquisition software was never updated, and it sits on the same network as everything else. Ransomware that hits the file server can take the vault and the test archive down together.

  • Engineers copying models to personal storage
  • Shared distributor and rep logins to your portals
  • Unpatched test-bench PCs on a flat network

03 · What we change

A guarded vault, a fenced test cell, named partners

We put the PLM or PDM vault behind role-based access and MFA, turn on data loss prevention and audit logging for model exports, and block unsanctioned cloud sync on engineering machines. Test-bench PCs move to their own segment with no internet and tested system images. Distributor and rep access becomes named accounts with expiry. Export-controlled designs get labeled, stored separately and restricted to screened users.

  • DLP and audit trails on CAD and PLM exports
  • Isolated test-cell network with imaged bench PCs
  • Named, expiring partner accounts in place of shared ones

04 · The after

Your designs stay yours, your records stay intact

When an engineer leaves, you can see what they touched and you can shut access in minutes. When a customer asks for the hydrostatic test on a valve shipped long ago, quality finds it. When an export question comes up, you know where the controlled drawings live and who can open them. Your insurer and your bigger customers' supplier questionnaires get specific answers instead of hopeful ones.

  • Offboarding includes a clear record of file access
  • Test records retrievable by serial and order
  • Controlled drawings separated and access-limited

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

CAD Workstation & License Support

Engineering machines need real GPUs, current drivers and license servers that don't fall over before a deadline. We spec and maintain CAD and simulation workstations, keep license managers healthy, and patch on a schedule your engineers agree to. When a SolidWorks or Inventor update breaks an add-in, we roll it back and coordinate with the reseller.

PLM & PDM Vault Security

Your PDM or PLM vault holds every model, drawing and revision. We set role-based permissions, require MFA for remote access, log check-outs and bulk exports, and back the vault and its database up together so a restore actually works. Engineers keep working the way they do now; the vault just stops being an open door.

Test Cell & Bench PC Isolation

Hydrostatic, seat-leakage and pump performance benches often run on older PCs tied to data acquisition hardware. We isolate them on their own network, remove internet access, keep a tested image of each, and move results to backed-up storage automatically. Changes to the bench software or instrumentation stay with the vendor or your test engineer.

Export-Controlled Data Handling

Some valve and pump designs fall under export controls, especially corrosion-resistant units used in chemical processing. We help you label and store controlled drawings separately, limit access to screened users, and keep logs of who opened them. Classification and licensing decisions belong with your trade compliance lead or counsel; we build the IT controls that back their decisions.

Configure-to-Order ERP Support

Flow-control products come in endless trims, materials and end connections, so the ERP and configurator carry a lot of weight. We keep the ERP servers, databases and integrations to CAD and PLM healthy, manage user access by role, and work with your ERP partner on upgrades so a bad patch doesn't stall quoting.

Distributor & Rep Portal Access

Reps and distributors need datasheets, pricing and order status, not your whole file server. We set up named external accounts in Microsoft 365 or your portal with MFA and expiry dates, share only the folders they need, and review partner access each quarter so former reps don't keep a key.

Why Choose LayerLogix?

Serving businesses throughout the Greater Houston area including Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Nationwide.

Design Work Stays Protected

Years of engineering live in your vault. With access controls, export logging and offboarding steps that actually run, a resignation or a phished password no longer means a competitor quietly gets your models or your sizing tools.

Traceable Test Records

Plant operators and EPCs ask for test documentation long after shipment. Automatic capture from the bench to backed-up storage means quality can produce the record by serial number without hunting through an old PC or asking the test tech to remember.

Cleaner Supplier Questionnaires

Large customers send security questionnaires before adding or renewing suppliers. Documented MFA, segmentation, backups and data handling let you answer specifically and quickly, which keeps you on approved vendor lists and shortens the back-and-forth with procurement.

Engineers Spend Time Engineering

Slow workstations, broken licenses and lost files cost your most expensive people hours. Proactive workstation care and a responsive help desk during business hours keep design and applications work on schedule, even in the week a big bid is due.

Our Process

1
Inventory CAD workstations, license servers, the PLM or PDM vault, ERP, test-bench PCs and every external partner account.
2
Map where engineering IP and export-sensitive drawings live, who can reach them, and how they could leave the building.
3
Lock down the vault with role-based access, MFA and export logging, and turn on data loss prevention for engineering files.
4
Segment the test cell and shop equipment network, image bench PCs, and automate test result capture to backed-up storage.
5
Replace shared partner logins with named, expiring accounts and set up joint vault and database backups with restore tests.
6
Review access, offboarding, export handling and insurance answers with you each quarter as products and partners change.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do we stop engineers from taking CAD files when they leave?▼
You can't make it impossible, but you can make it hard and visible. We block personal cloud sync and unapproved USB storage on engineering machines, turn on data loss prevention rules for CAD and drawing file types, and log bulk check-outs from the vault. Microsoft 365 and most PLM systems can alert on unusual download volume. Then we tie it to offboarding: when HR gives notice, we review recent activity and disable access on the last day, not a week later. If something does look wrong, you'll have logs your attorney can use.
Are our valve or pump designs export controlled?▼
Some are. Certain valves and pumps built from corrosion-resistant materials appear on the Commerce Control List under the EAR, and defense-related designs can fall under ITAR. Whether yours do depends on materials, design and end use, and that classification is a call for your trade compliance lead or counsel. What we do is build the IT side once they decide: separate storage for controlled drawings, access limited to screened people, logging, and rules that keep those files out of shared folders and foreign-hosted services that haven't been reviewed.
Our test bench runs on an old PC. Can you upgrade it?▼
We'll start by protecting it rather than changing it. Bench PCs are often tied to specific data acquisition cards and software versions, and an upgrade can break calibration or the vendor's support. We move the PC to an isolated network, take a full image so it can be restored, and set up automatic copying of results to backed-up storage. When you're ready to replace the bench software or hardware, we coordinate with the test equipment vendor and your test engineer so the new system arrives on a clean, supported setup.
Can you work alongside our PLM or ERP partner?▼
Yes, and we prefer to. Your PLM reseller and ERP partner know the application configuration; we own the infrastructure under it and the security around it. In practice that means we handle servers, databases, backups, identity and network access, while they handle workflows, configurator rules and upgrades. We join their upgrade planning, test restores before major changes, and keep access for their consultants named and time-limited. When something breaks, you call us first and we pull them in if it's on their side.
Big customers keep sending us security questionnaires. Can you help?▼
Yes. Refiners, chemical plants and EPCs increasingly ask suppliers about MFA, endpoint detection, backups, incident response and data handling before they renew. We help you answer accurately based on what's actually in place, flag the questions where the honest answer is no, and build a short plan to close those gaps. Over time we keep a standing set of answers and supporting documents, so the next questionnaire takes an afternoon rather than a week. We won't overstate controls you don't have, since that tends to backfire in an audit.
Do you secure the shop machines and CNC equipment too?▼
We secure the IT side and the boundary: the network those machines sit on, the PCs that send programs to them, file transfer paths and who can reach them remotely. Inside the CNC controls and PLCs, changes belong to the machine builder or your controls engineer, and we coordinate with them rather than reconfigure equipment ourselves. Most shop-floor risk comes from flat networks, shared logins and unmanaged remote access tools, and those are exactly the pieces we tighten without touching how your machines cut metal.
Do you provide Valve & Pump Manufacturers IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers valve & pump manufacturers IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. For most Houston-area clients we can be on-site the same day when something needs hands-on attention, and our help desk is available during business hours, with after-hours emergency support. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Valve & Pump Manufacturers IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
