Our consultants use client-issued laptops and accounts. Does that change what you manage?▼
It changes the boundary. A client-issued laptop belongs to the client's IT team, so we don't manage or touch it. What we do is make sure your own tenant, devices and data stay separate from it: firm files stay off client machines unless the engagement requires it, your consultants' firm accounts are protected with strong MFA, and we document the rule for when client data may be copied back into your environment. That separation is often exactly what a client's security team asks about during onboarding.
How do you handle subject-matter experts and subcontractors who need temporary access?▼
We give them guest access to the specific engagement workspace, never to the firm-wide file share. Guests are invited through an approval step, required to use MFA and set to expire on a date tied to the statement of work. Partners get a simple report showing every external person with access to each client site. When the expert's portion ends, access is removed even if the broader engagement continues, so nobody keeps a standing view into client material they no longer need.
A client asked whether we have a SOC 2 report. What should we say?▼
Answer accurately. Unless your firm has completed a SOC 2 audit with a licensed CPA firm, you don't have a SOC 2 report, and saying otherwise creates contract risk. What many consulting firms can truthfully say is that their controls are SOC 2 aligned and documented, with evidence available. We help you build those controls and the evidence pack, and if the business case supports a formal audit later, we help you prepare for it. Your counsel should review any contractual security representations.
Can you stop consultants from saving client files to personal Dropbox or Gmail?▼
Mostly, yes, without making their jobs harder. We block or restrict uploads to personal cloud storage from managed laptops, apply sensitivity labels that prevent client-labeled files from being forwarded externally, and alert on unusual downloads from engagement sites. The other half is making the sanctioned tools pleasant to use on the road, with fast sync and easy external sharing, so nobody feels pushed toward a workaround. Technical controls work best when the approved path is also the easy one.
What happens if a partner's mailbox is compromised?▼
We treat it as an active incident with after-hours emergency response. First we revoke sessions, reset credentials and remove any inbox rules or forwarding the attacker created. Then we review sign-in and mailbox audit logs to see which client threads and attachments were accessed, and check whether any payment instructions were sent. We hand those facts to the partners and your counsel, who decide whether clients need to be notified. We don't make legal calls, but we make sure you're deciding from evidence.
Do you work with firms that do federal or public-sector consulting?▼
Yes. If your contracts involve controlled unclassified information, DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST SP 800-171 may apply, and possibly CMMC requirements depending on the contract. That often means keeping that work in a separate, more tightly controlled environment such as a government cloud tenant rather than your commercial Microsoft 365. We help scope which teams and data fall inside that boundary, so the whole firm doesn't carry the cost of controls only one practice needs. Contract language decides applicability, so we review it with you.

What does Management Consulting Firms IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills.
