Why do some ultrasound studies go missing?▼
Usually because the transfer from the machine to ViewPoint, PACS or the EHR failed and the study stayed on the machine. Network interruptions, full storage, worklist mismatches or misconfigured destinations can all cause it, and the failure is often silent. We monitor transfers, alert on studies that don't arrive and fix network and server causes. If the issue is inside the ultrasound machine or reporting software, we give GE or your service provider clear evidence so they can fix it quickly.
Our on-call doctors use personal laptops to reach the hospital. Is that a problem?▼
It can be. A personal laptop shared with family, missing updates or without MFA is an easy way for an attacker to reach both your practice and the hospital. Better options are practice-managed laptops with encryption and endpoint protection, or a secured virtual desktop that keeps patient data off the personal machine entirely. Hospitals often have their own remote access requirements too. We set up whichever approach fits and coordinate with hospital IT where needed.
How do you protect especially sensitive records?▼
With layered access controls. We configure role-based permissions in your EHR so staff see what their job requires, enable sensitive-record flags where the system supports them, set short screen-lock timers at shared stations and review audit logs for unusual access. Patient messages move through the secure portal rather than email. Laws on reproductive and sexual health information differ by state and change over time, so decisions about disclosures and requests for records belong with your counsel and compliance lead.
Do you support ModMed EMA, athenahealth or eClinicalWorks?▼
We support the infrastructure behind them: workstations, tablets, printers, scanners, network, device interfaces and security. The EHR vendors handle their own applications, including templates, prenatal flowsheets, billing and interfaces. When something breaks, we work out whether it's a device, the network or the software, fix what's ours and open a clear ticket with the vendor when it's theirs. We also check imaging integration after updates so ultrasound reports keep landing in charts.
How do prenatal records get to the hospital before delivery?▼
It depends on your EHR and the hospitals you deliver at. Common paths include direct interfaces, health information exchanges, hospital portals where your staff upload records and secure fax. Each can fail quietly. We help secure and monitor whichever paths you use, protect the accounts involved and troubleshoot failures with hospital IT. Your clinical team decides when records should be sent, and we make sure the technology delivers them reliably and securely.
Should patients receive results by email or text?▼
Generally, results should go through your secure patient portal, with email or text used only to say a new message is waiting. Sending results directly by ordinary email or text exposes them to anyone with access to the patient's inbox or phone. That matters even more for pregnancy, genetic and sexual health results. We configure portal notifications, encrypted email for exceptions and patient messaging tools that keep content secure. Your compliance lead decides the policy for patient requests.
Do you provide OB in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers ob to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. For most Houston-area clients we can be on-site the same day when something needs hands-on attention, and our help desk is available during business hours, with after-hours emergency support. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does OB cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
