Urodynamics, fusion biopsies and in-office labs, supported without the guesswork

Urology Practices IT Services

A urology group runs a surprising amount of equipment for an office practice: urodynamics systems, bladder scanners, transrectal ultrasound carts, MRI fusion biopsy platforms and often an in-house pathology or urinalysis lab.

At a glance

Each one has a vendor PC, and each one becomes a door into your network if it's left alone.

We support those workstations on the IT side and at the network boundary, get prostate MRI studies to the fusion system on time, control access for mobile lithotripsy and outside imaging vendors, and protect the EHR and lab data your physicians rely on.

Urology practices in Texas and nationwide get U.S.-based engineers who coordinate with your equipment vendors instead of guessing.

IT that keeps studies loading, biopsies on target, lab results posting.

Managed IT for urology groups running procedure carts, imaging fusion and lab work inside a busy clinic.

Office plus procedures

An office practice with a hospital's equipment list

On a typical day, a urology clinic runs urodynamics studies, cystoscopies, prostate biopsies guided by MRI fusion and point-of-care lab tests, while outside vendors bring lithotripsy and imaging services to your door. Every one of those tools has its own computer. Here's what keeps the day running, where it springs leaks, and what we install to close them.

01 · The pressure

Every procedure room has its own computer

Urodynamics tracings save to a dedicated workstation. Fusion biopsy systems need the patient's prostate MRI imported and contoured before the patient arrives. Bladder scanners, ultrasound carts and cystoscopy video towers all feed images or values to the chart. The in-office lab posts PSA and urinalysis results. If the MRI doesn't arrive or the urodynamics PC won't boot, procedures get rescheduled and patients who arranged rides and time off go home.

  • Prostate MRI imported before fusion biopsies
  • Urodynamics tracings saved to the chart
  • In-office lab results posting to the EHR

02 · How it breaks

Vendor carts, visiting trucks and old remote tools

Ultrasound and urodynamics carts arrive with vendor remote-access software that's always on and rarely reviewed. Mobile lithotripsy and imaging vendors plug laptops into your network on service days. MRI studies come from outside imaging centers through a mix of CDs, portals and email. The pathology lab's results inbox sits in one shared mailbox. Any of those can carry ransomware from a vendor's environment into yours.

  • Always-on vendor remote access on carts
  • Visiting vendor laptops on the clinic network
  • Outside MRI studies arriving by CD and email

03 · What we change

Fenced equipment, brokered vendors, clean image intake

Procedure carts and lab analyzers move to segmented networks with tightly limited routes. Vendor remote access goes through a brokered, logged connection that's off until someone approves it. Visiting vendors get an isolated network, never your clinical one. We set up a secure path for outside MRI studies to reach the fusion system and EHR, and we put MFA on email, the EHR and every lab and imaging portal.

  • Segmented carts and lab analyzers
  • Vendor access approved and logged per session
  • Secure intake for outside imaging studies

04 · The after

Procedure days run and vendors stay in their lane

Fusion biopsies start with the MRI already loaded. Urodynamics and ultrasound carts work without being a backdoor. Visiting lithotripsy crews connect, do their work and leave nothing behind on your network. You know which vendors accessed which systems and when. When a payer, insurer or hospital partner asks about vendor risk and equipment security, you hand them documentation instead of promises.

  • Imaging ready before the patient arrives
  • A log of every vendor connection
  • Documented answers for partners and insurers

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Procedure Cart & Workstation Isolation

Urodynamics systems, transrectal ultrasound, bladder scanners and cystoscopy towers usually come with vendor-supplied PCs. We place them on restricted network segments, limit what they can reach and add protection the vendor allows. Device software, calibration and anything inside the equipment stays with the manufacturer or your biomed provider, and we coordinate when a problem crosses that line.

MRI Fusion Biopsy Image Flow

Fusion biopsy platforms depend on prostate MRI studies arriving and being contoured ahead of time. We set up secure DICOM routing or portal workflows from outside imaging centers, keep the fusion workstation's storage and network healthy, and include those studies in backups. Contouring and planning questions stay with the device vendor and your radiology partners.

Vendor Remote Access Control

Equipment vendors often install always-on remote tools. We replace them with brokered access that requires approval, records each session and shuts off afterward. A current vendor roster shows who can reach which system, and we review it with you regularly. Visiting vendors on service days get an isolated network rather than a cable into your clinical switch.

In-Office Lab Connectivity

Point-of-care urinalysis, PSA testing and in-house pathology depend on analyzers and interfaces that post results to the chart. We keep those connections working on the IT side, segment the lab network, monitor for stalled results and back up any local data. CLIA documentation and quality control belong to your lab director, and we support the IT records they need.

Urology EHR & Clinic Support

We support the workstations, scanners, printers and network behind ModMed, NextGen, athenaOne and similar EHRs across your clinics. That includes user accounts, MFA, new-provider setups and the phones your schedulers rely on. Template and billing configuration questions go to your EHR vendor, and we handle the ticket so your staff aren't stuck in the middle.

Ransomware Defense & Recovery

Endpoint detection on every supported computer, managed detection and response with 24/7 SOC monitoring, and immutable off-site backups form the core. We test restores of your EHR data, imaging archives and lab records, and document a recovery order so procedure days can resume quickly. Decisions about notification after an incident belong with your counsel.

Serving businesses throughout the Greater Houston area including Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Nationwide.

Fewer Rescheduled Procedures

When MRI studies arrive on time and procedure carts start reliably, biopsies and urodynamics studies happen when they're booked. Patients don't lose a day of work for a cancelled appointment, and your procedure schedule keeps generating the revenue it was built for.

Vendors Without Back Doors

Brokered, logged vendor access lets equipment manufacturers support their devices without leaving permanent openings. You decide when they connect, you can see what they did and you can turn them off instantly if a vendor reports its own breach.

Lab Results You Can Trust

Monitored analyzer connections catch stalled results before a physician misses a rising PSA. Segmented lab networks keep a problem in the business office from reaching testing equipment, and backups protect results that must be retrievable later.

Clear Story for Partners

Hospitals, payers and cyber insurers increasingly ask how you manage vendor access and equipment risk. A vendor roster, session logs, segmentation diagrams and restore test results give you specific, credible answers without a last-minute scramble.

Our Process

1
We inventory every procedure cart, imaging workstation, lab analyzer, clinic PC and every vendor that connects remotely or visits on site.
2
We map how outside MRI studies, lab results and procedure images move into the fusion system and the EHR.
3
We fix urgent gaps: always-on vendor tools, equipment on the flat office network, shared lab inboxes and missing MFA.
4
We segment equipment and lab networks, set up brokered vendor access and deploy endpoint detection with managed detection and response.
5
We build secure image intake from outside imaging centers and run a documented restore test of EHR, imaging and lab data.
6
We review the vendor roster, new equipment, locations and insurer or hospital questionnaires with you every quarter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you patch our urodynamics and ultrasound workstations?▼
Sometimes, but only within what the manufacturer supports. Many vendors validate their software against a specific operating system build, and unsupported patches can break the device or void service. Where patching isn't allowed, we isolate the workstation, restrict its network access, add vendor-approved protection and document the reason for your HIPAA risk analysis. We also ask the vendor in writing about upgrade paths. Changes inside the equipment itself stay with the manufacturer.
How should outside imaging centers send us prostate MRIs for fusion biopsies?▼
Ideally through a secure electronic path rather than CDs or email attachments. Depending on your fusion platform and the imaging center, that might be DICOM routing over a VPN, an image exchange portal or a cloud image-sharing service. We set up the connection, test it with each imaging partner, make sure studies land where the fusion workstation can find them and include them in backups. CDs still happen, so we also give staff a safe, scanned workstation for importing them.
A mobile lithotripsy company comes on site monthly. What do we need to do?▼
Keep their equipment and laptops off your clinical network. We give visiting vendors an isolated network segment with internet access and, if they need to send data to your EHR or PACS, a narrow, documented route for just that. Their staff shouldn't use your workstations or your shared logins. We also make sure your agreement with them covers how patient data is handled, though the contract terms themselves are for your administrator and counsel to settle.
We run an in-house pathology lab. How does that change IT?▼
It adds systems with their own retention and quality expectations. Slide scanners, lab information systems, analyzers and results interfaces need segmentation, monitoring and backups, and pathologists may need secure remote access to sign out cases. We handle the infrastructure and access, alert when results stop flowing and support the IT documentation your lab director needs for inspections. CLIA and accreditation requirements themselves remain your lab director's responsibility. Slide images and reports also get immutable backups.
Our group treats advanced prostate cancer. Are there extra IT considerations?▼
Usually yes. Advanced prostate cancer clinics often handle injectable therapies, in-office dispensing of oral medications and coordination with radiation oncology and imaging partners. That means more interfaces, more outside portals and more sensitive records. We secure dispensing workstations and pharmacy portals, keep referral and imaging connections working, and make sure access to those records is limited to the people who need it. Pharmacy and dispensing regulations belong with your pharmacist and compliance lead.
What happens if ransomware hits during a procedure day?▼
We isolate affected systems quickly, keep segmented equipment and lab networks protected from spread and start restoring from immutable backups in the order you've agreed on, usually EHR access first, then imaging and lab systems. Our engineers work business hours, with after-hours emergency response for active incidents, and managed detection and response watches endpoints around the clock. We document the timeline for your counsel and insurer, who decide on notification and next steps.
