Tire & Auto Service Shops IT Services

A tire or auto service shop runs on a few systems that can't go down on a Monday morning: the shop management system, the card reader, the parts ordering sites and the network that connects the service counter to the bays.

At a glance

Most shops run Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, Mitchell 1 or Protractor, send digital inspections by text, pull repair data from ALLDATA or similar services, and plug scan tools and calibration equipment into the same network as the counter PC.

We set that up properly: segmented networks for bays, counter and customer Wi-Fi, payment devices that keep card data out of your systems, protected accounts for shop software and parts suppliers, and help desk support for the front counter.

We support independent and multi-location tire and auto service shops in Texas and nationwide.

IT that keeps bays full, ROs approved, cards processed.

Shop management, payments, digital inspections and bay equipment connected and secured for busy service counters.

Tire & auto service shops

From the drop-off to the keys back in hand

A repair order passes through a lot of hands and screens. The service advisor writes it, a tech runs a digital inspection, the customer approves work from a text, parts get ordered online and the customer pays at the counter or by phone. Every step relies on a connected system, and a busy shop rarely has time to secure them.

01 · The pressure

Monday morning with every bay booked

Advisors check in vehicles in Tekmetric or Shopmonkey, techs photograph worn tires and leaking struts for the digital inspection, and customers approve work from a text link. Parts come from supplier catalogs through PartsTech or direct portals. Fleet accounts expect accurate invoices. If the shop software can't load or the card reader drops offline, cars sit in the bays, customers wait in the lobby and your techs are paid to stand around.

  • Digital inspections approved by text
  • Parts ordered online for every job
  • Fleet accounts billed on monthly terms

02 · How it breaks

Card numbers on sticky notes and a flat shop network

Customers call in card numbers to approve work, and advisors jot them on paper or type them into notes. The counter PC doubles as the parts ordering, email and personal browsing machine. Scan tools, the alignment machine, cameras and customer Wi-Fi all share one network. A phished advisor gives up the shop software password. A fleet customer gets a spoofed invoice with new bank details. And criminals send customers fake 'your vehicle is ready' texts with payment links.

  • Phoned-in card numbers written on paper
  • Bay equipment and customer Wi-Fi on one network
  • Fake vehicle-ready texts with payment links

03 · What we change

Clean payments and a shop network in zones

We move phone payments to text-to-pay or hosted payment links so card numbers never get written down. Card readers get their own isolated network. Bays and diagnostic equipment, the counter, cameras and customer Wi-Fi each get separate segments, and scan tool and calibration vendors connect through controlled access. Advisors and techs get named logins with MFA on shop software and supplier portals. Counter PCs get endpoint protection and standard user accounts, and DMARC protects your shop's domain.

  • Text-to-pay instead of phoned-in card numbers
  • Separate network zones for bays, counter and Wi-Fi
  • Named logins with MFA on shop software

04 · The after

A shop that runs and a PCI form that's honest

Customers approve and pay from their phones, and no card number ever lands on a sticky note. A customer's infected phone on the lobby Wi-Fi can't touch your counter PC or alignment rack. When an advisor leaves, you shut off their logins in minutes. Your processor's PCI questionnaire becomes short and accurate. And fleet customers know your invoices and payment details can be trusted because your domain can't be spoofed.

  • No card numbers handled by staff
  • Lobby Wi-Fi walled off from shop systems
  • A shorter, accurate PCI self-assessment

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Shop Management System Support

We support the IT side of Tekmetric, Shopmonkey, Mitchell 1 Manager SE, Protractor and TireMaster: user setup, roles, MFA, integrations with parts catalogs, accounting and digital inspection tools, plus the counter PCs and tablets they run on. Vendor product issues get escalated and tracked by us so advisors can stay with customers.

Payment Security and PCI Scope Reduction

We help you replace keyed and phoned-in card entry with text-to-pay links and modern card readers that keep card data with the processor. Payment devices sit on an isolated network segment. That narrows your PCI DSS scope, and we help you complete the annual self-assessment your processor requires.

Segmented Shop Network

Bays and diagnostic equipment, the service counter, office, cameras and customer Wi-Fi each get their own network zone behind a business firewall. Scan tools, alignment machines and ADAS calibration rigs stay with their manufacturers for support, and we secure the boundary and remote access around them.

Digital Inspection and Text Security

Customers are trained by your inspections to click links in texts, which criminals copy. We help you keep messages consistent, use your shop software's branded links, publish DMARC for your email domain and tell customers how you will and won't ask for payment so fake messages stand out.

Supplier and Repair Data Accounts

Parts supplier portals, PartsTech, ALLDATA, OEM repair information and scan tool cloud accounts each have logins that tend to get shared. We register them, move to named users where possible, add MFA and remove access when advisors or techs leave, so a former employee can't keep ordering parts on your account.

Counter and Office Device Management

Counter PCs, advisor tablets and office computers get endpoint protection, automatic updates, standard user accounts and web filtering that keeps personal browsing from dragging malware into the shop. We support everything through a help desk during business hours and replace failed hardware quickly so the counter is never down for long.

Why Choose LayerLogix?

Serving businesses throughout the Greater Houston area including Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Nationwide.

Fewer Stalled Bays

Stable shop software, reliable counter PCs and a monitored network keep repair orders moving through the day. Techs keep turning wrenches instead of waiting while an advisor fights with a frozen screen or a dropped internet connection.

Card Data Out of Your Hands

Text-to-pay links and isolated card readers mean staff never handle card numbers. That lowers your breach risk, shrinks your PCI scope and removes the temptation to keep a customer's card on a note for next time.

Equipment Kept Separate

Diagnostic tools, calibration rigs and cameras on their own network zones can't be reached from a customer's phone on lobby Wi-Fi. Your expensive equipment keeps working, and its vendors still get the controlled remote access they need for support.

Trustworthy Customer Messages

Consistent inspection texts, a protected email domain and a clear payment policy help customers tell your messages from fakes. Fleet accounts trust your invoices, and retail customers keep approving work from their phones with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it okay to take card numbers over the phone?▼
It's risky. When advisors write card numbers down or type them into notes, those numbers end up in places that are hard to protect, and your PCI DSS scope grows. Most shop management systems and processors now support text-to-pay or hosted payment links, where the customer enters the card on their own phone and the data goes straight to the processor. We help you switch, train advisors on the new flow and isolate the card readers you keep at the counter.
Should our scan tools and alignment machine be on the same network as the counter?▼
No. Diagnostic tools, alignment machines, ADAS calibration rigs and tire machines that connect to the internet should sit on their own network zone. Those devices often run older software their manufacturers control, and they shouldn't be reachable from customer Wi-Fi or a phished counter PC. We set up that separation and controlled remote access for equipment vendors. Software updates and repairs inside the equipment stay with the manufacturer's support team.
Do you support Tekmetric, Shopmonkey and Mitchell 1?▼
Yes, on the IT side. We set up users and roles, enable MFA where available, connect integrations with parts catalogs, accounting and inspection tools, and keep the counter PCs, tablets and network those platforms depend on running well. The software vendors still support their own product features. When something breaks, we figure out whether it's the device, the network, the account or the vendor, and we follow up with the vendor if needed.
What PCI DSS requirements apply to a repair shop?▼
If you accept cards, your processor will ask you to complete an annual self-assessment questionnaire. Which one depends on how you take payments: standalone card readers, integrated terminals, text-to-pay links or keyed entry. The more card data you keep out of your own systems, the shorter and simpler that questionnaire becomes. We help you pick payment methods that narrow scope, isolate payment devices on your network and answer the questions accurately. Your processor decides what's required for your account.
How do we protect customers from fake texts that look like ours?▼
Consistency is your best defense. Send inspection and payment links only through your shop management system's branded messaging, use the same wording each time and tell customers at drop-off how you'll contact them and that you never ask for card numbers by text reply. We also publish DMARC so criminals can't send email as your shop. If customers report a fake message, we help you warn others and report the sender to the carrier.
Can you support shops with several locations?▼
Yes. We standardize the network design, counter setup, payment configuration and accounts across locations so every shop works the same way and support stays predictable. Monitoring and help desk support are remote, and hands-on installs are handled locally near our offices or by a vetted local technician directed by our engineer. Multi-location shops also benefit from centralized user management, so an advisor who moves between stores doesn't need a pile of separate logins.
Do you provide Tire & Auto Service Shops IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers tire & auto service shops IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Tire & Auto Service Shops IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
