Keep pay stations, memberships and the tunnel network up on busy Saturdays

Car Washes IT Services

An express car wash makes its money in short bursts, and when the pay stations, the membership gate or the site's internet goes down on a sunny Saturday, cars back up onto the road and drive to the next wash.

At a glance

Memberships mean stored cards, recurring billing and license plate or RFID recognition that has to match every car in seconds.

We run and secure the IT around that: the point-of-sale and pay station network, the membership and billing platform, plate recognition cameras, the office and manager devices, and internet with cellular failover so lanes keep selling.

Tunnel controllers stay with the equipment maker; we secure the network they connect through.

We support single sites and growing chains in Texas and nationwide, with local technicians directed by our engineers.

IT that keeps lanes moving, members recognized, cards protected.

Managed IT and security for the pay stations, membership billing and site networks of express and full-service car washes.

Express & full-service washes

Every car in line is a transaction in seconds

A modern wash is a payment business wrapped around a tunnel. Pay stations take cards, cameras read plates, the membership system decides who rolls straight through, and the controller sends each car down the conveyor. When any piece stops talking, the line stops too. Here's where that chain fails, and what we change.

01 · The pressure

Weekends and sunny afternoons carry the month

Traffic spikes after rain clears and on weekends. Pay stations take cards and phone wallets, license plate readers or RFID tags recognize members, and the wash management system hands the car to the tunnel controller. Members get billed monthly to cards on file, and a failed charge means a lost member. Managers watch sales, labor and chemical use from their phones. One outage at peak can wipe out a day's best hours.

  • Pay stations and POS take most revenue in short peaks
  • Plate readers and RFID drive member lanes
  • Recurring membership billing funds the site

02 · How it breaks

Flat site networks, default passwords and one ISP

Pay stations, cameras, the office PC, guest Wi-Fi and the tunnel controller all share one flat network behind a consumer router. The camera recorder still has its default password and is open to the internet. A manager's email gets phished, and the attacker uses it to reach the wash management portal. The site has one internet circuit, so when a construction crew cuts the line, cards stop working.

  • Payment devices on the same network as guest Wi-Fi
  • Cameras and recorders exposed with default passwords
  • No backup internet when the single circuit fails

03 · What we change

Segmented sites, named access and failover internet

We put a managed firewall at each site and split traffic into payment, cameras, equipment, office and guest segments. Plate readers and recorders get unique credentials and no direct internet exposure. Manager and corporate accounts get MFA, including the wash management portal where it's offered. Each site gets cellular failover so pay stations keep processing during an outage. We coordinate with your equipment provider before touching anything near the tunnel controller.

  • Separate payment, camera, equipment and guest networks
  • Cellular failover so lanes keep selling
  • MFA on manager email and wash management portals

04 · The after

Sites that sell through outages and pass PCI questions

A cut cable becomes a footnote in the daily report instead of a lost Saturday. Your processor's PCI questionnaire gets answered with a real network diagram showing payment devices segmented away from everything else. Members roll through without friction, and failed charges get investigated quickly. When you open or buy another site, it gets the same standard build, and you can manage it from the same dashboard.

  • Card processing continues during ISP outages
  • Clear PCI scope with documented segmentation
  • New sites built to one repeatable standard

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Pay Station & POS Network Security

Pay stations and POS terminals are the front door of your revenue and your PCI scope. We isolate them on their own network segment, keep their firmware current with your vendor, restrict remote access to approved support paths, and document the setup so your PCI DSS self-assessment reflects what's really there.

Membership & Recurring Billing Protection

Unlimited plans live on stored cards and automatic renewals. We lock down who can view and change member accounts in your wash platform, require MFA for managers and corporate staff, and watch for unusual refund or plan changes. Card storage stays with your processor so it never lands in a spreadsheet.

Plate Recognition & Camera Networks

License plate readers, RFID antennas and security cameras need reliable connections and shouldn't be reachable from the internet. We give them their own network segment, change default credentials, update recorder firmware, and set up secure remote viewing so managers can check the lot without opening a hole in the firewall.

Failover Internet for Every Site

A single internet circuit is the most common reason a wash can't take cards. We add cellular or secondary broadband failover with automatic switching, monitor each site's connection, and alert you and your provider the moment the primary drops, so pay stations keep processing and members keep rolling.

Tunnel Equipment Boundary

Tunnel controllers, conveyors and chemical systems belong to the equipment manufacturer and its service techs. We keep that gear on its own segment, control how their remote support connects, and coordinate with them before network changes. Their control logic stays theirs; the connection around it gets watched and secured.

Multi-Site Standard Builds

Growing chains often inherit a different router, ISP and camera system at each acquired site. We roll out a standard firewall, switch and wireless build, central monitoring and documented configurations, so every location looks the same and a new site opens or converts on a predictable timeline.

Why Choose LayerLogix?

Serving businesses throughout the Greater Houston area including Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Nationwide.

No Lost Saturdays

Failover internet and monitored site networks mean an outage on the busiest day of the week becomes a minor event. Pay stations keep processing, the member lane keeps recognizing plates and the line keeps moving instead of turning around at the entrance.

Smaller, Clearer PCI Scope

Segmenting payment devices from cameras, guest Wi-Fi and office PCs shrinks the part of your network that PCI DSS cares about. Your self-assessment gets easier, and a compromise elsewhere on the site can't reach the card readers.

Healthier Membership Revenue

Protected member accounts, MFA on management portals and alerts on unusual refunds or plan changes keep recurring revenue from leaking through fraud, mistakes or a phished manager account, and help keep members happy with clean, predictable billing.

Faster New Site Openings

A documented, repeatable site build cuts the IT guesswork out of grand openings and acquisitions. Circuits, firewalls, cameras and pay stations come up in a known order, and the site joins central monitoring from its first day of business.

Our Process

1
Survey each site's internet, router, pay stations, POS, plate readers, cameras, office PCs and how equipment vendors connect remotely.
2
Map the card payment flow and membership billing, and identify every device and account that falls inside PCI scope.
3
Install a managed firewall at each site and separate payment, camera, equipment, office and guest traffic into segments.
4
Add cellular failover, change default credentials on cameras and recorders, and remove anything exposed directly to the internet.
5
Turn on MFA for manager email and wash management portals, and set alerts on unusual refunds and member account changes.
6
Document a standard site build, monitor every location centrally, and review new sites, vendors and PCI answers each quarter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work on our tunnel controller or wash equipment?▼
We don't change tunnel controllers, conveyors or chemical systems, since those belong to the equipment maker and its service techs. What we handle is the network around them: giving that equipment its own segment, controlling how the manufacturer's remote support connects, monitoring connectivity, and coordinating before any firewall or switch change so a car never stalls mid-tunnel because of us. If something on the equipment side breaks, we'll help your manager get the right logs and connection to the manufacturer's support team quickly.
What does PCI DSS mean for a car wash?▼
If you take cards at pay stations, at a POS or through membership billing, PCI DSS 4.0 applies. The scope depends on how payments flow. Terminals that encrypt cards before they hit your network, and memberships stored with your processor rather than in your systems, keep scope small. Flat site networks where pay stations share space with cameras and guest Wi-Fi make scope large. We help you segment, document the payment flow, keep vendor remote access tight and complete the right self-assessment for your processor.
Why do we need backup internet at a car wash?▼
Because nearly every sale and every member check depends on it. Pay stations need a connection to authorize cards, and membership recognition often checks a cloud system. When your single circuit drops, whether from a storm, a backhoe or a provider outage, you can lose your best hours. A cellular or second broadband connection with automatic failover keeps payments processing while the primary is repaired, and monitoring tells you and the provider about the outage right away.
Our cameras are viewable from anywhere. Is that safe?▼
It depends on how that remote view is set up. Many recorders are opened to the internet with a forwarded port and the factory password, which attackers scan for constantly and can use to get onto the site network. We close those openings, change credentials, update recorder firmware and set up secure remote viewing through the vendor's cloud service or a VPN. Your managers still check the lot from their phones, but the recorder stops being an open door.
How do you protect membership accounts from fraud?▼
Most membership fraud comes from inside access or a compromised manager login rather than outside hackers. We limit who can issue refunds, change plans or edit member payment details, require MFA on the wash management portal where supported, and set alerts for unusual patterns like a burst of refunds at one site. Card data stays with your payment processor. If your state has automatic renewal rules, your counsel can advise on disclosures, and we make sure the systems can produce the records they need.
We're buying several washes from another operator. Can you convert them?▼
Yes. Acquired sites usually arrive with a mix of routers, ISPs, camera systems and sometimes a different wash management platform. We start by securing each site right away with password changes and remote access cleanup, then convert to your standard build: managed firewall, segmentation, failover internet and central monitoring. If you're moving members to your platform, we coordinate with both vendors so recurring billing carries over cleanly and members keep rolling through without having to re-register.
Do you provide Car Washes IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers car washes IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Car Washes IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼

We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
