The brand picks the software; you still own the risk. We help you carry it

Franchise Businesses IT Services

Franchisees inherit a technology stack they didn’t choose and a security responsibility they can’t hand back: the brand mandates the POS, scheduling app and portal, but your entity is usually the merchant on the card statement and the employer on the payroll records.

At a glance

Multi-unit operators feel it most, juggling a dozen logins per store, a brand help desk that stops at its own software, and opening deadlines that don’t wait for a circuit install.

We run IT and security for franchisees and multi-unit groups across brands, in Texas and nationwide.

We build one standard for every unit, handle the network and devices the brand doesn’t, keep access tidy as managers come and go, and get new locations live on the brand’s schedule.

IT that keeps every unit on standard, openings on schedule, brand audits easy.

One playbook for every unit you own, built around the systems your franchisor requires and the risks they leave with you.

Operator, not franchisor

Their systems, your name on the risk

Franchising hands you a proven model and a required tech stack. What it doesn’t hand you is someone to run the network, secure the back-office PC, manage manager turnover or answer for card data at your units. Here’s how that gap causes trouble for operators, and how we close it.

01 · The pressure

Brand software up top, your gear underneath

Each unit runs the franchisor’s POS or service platform, a brand portal for ordering and reporting, scheduling and payroll, and often a loyalty app tied to the brand’s national program. Underneath sits your internet circuit, firewall, Wi-Fi, PCs and printers. The brand help desk supports their software. When the unit’s network fails, they tell you to call your IT provider. If you don’t have one, your general manager spends the lunch rush on hold with an internet carrier.

  • Brand help desk stops at brand software
  • Your entity is usually the merchant of record
  • Each unit has its own circuit, PCs and Wi-Fi

02 · How it breaks

Shared logins and unit-by-unit drift

Multi-unit groups grow through acquisitions and openings, so every store ends up set up a little differently. Managers share the brand portal login, the store email password lives on a sticky note, and a former GM can still sign into the scheduling app. Attackers phish an operator’s email and redirect payroll deposits or vendor payments. And a unit bought from another franchisee may still run the previous owner’s remote access tool on the back-office PC.

  • Former managers still in the brand portal
  • Payroll deposits redirected after phishing
  • Acquired units carrying old remote tools

03 · What we change

One standard, applied to every unit

We write a unit standard and apply it everywhere: firewall template, separate zones for POS, office, cameras and guest Wi-Fi, managed back-office PCs, and failover internet where sales depend on it. Every manager gets named accounts in email and, where the brand allows, in its tools, with a single checklist to add or remove them. Owners and payroll admins get strong MFA. Acquired units are inventoried and cleaned before they join your network.

  • One firewall and Wi-Fi template for all units
  • Single checklist for manager onboarding and exit
  • Acquired units cleaned before connecting

04 · The after

Grow without multiplying the mess

Opening unit number nine looks like unit eight. A manager who quits loses access the same day across email, scheduling and the portal. When the franchisor sends its annual technology or security questionnaire, you answer from a single document instead of visiting every store. Card data stays in the brand’s payment zone. And you, not the brand help desk, decide how fast your units get back online when something fails.

  • New units built from a known template
  • Manager access removed the day they leave
  • Franchisor questionnaires answered from one file

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Unit Standard and Rollout

We document a standard for every location: circuit and failover, firewall template, switch and Wi-Fi layout, camera network, back-office PC image and printer setup, all aligned with your franchisor’s technology requirements. Each unit gets built to it and audited against it, so troubleshooting and upgrades work the same way everywhere you operate.

New Unit Opening IT

Opening dates come from the brand and the landlord, not from the internet carrier. We order circuits early, track install dates, bring temporary cellular connectivity if the carrier slips, stage PCs and network gear ahead of time, and coordinate the brand’s POS install team so the store can train staff and take payments on schedule.

Manager Access Lifecycle

General managers and shift leads turn over, and each one touches email, scheduling, payroll, the brand portal and the POS manager role. We keep a single access checklist per role, provision named accounts where systems allow, and remove everything on the last day. Shared passwords move into a password manager with clear ownership.

Payroll and Payment Fraud Defense

Operators run payroll for many employees across several entities, which makes direct-deposit change requests and vendor bank changes a favorite target. We add MFA on payroll and banking portals, alerting on deposit changes, impersonation filtering for owner and controller mailboxes, and a verification step your office team follows before changing any account.

PCI Responsibility at the Unit Level

Even when the brand selects the POS and processor, your entity often signs the merchant agreement. We confirm the card data flow with the brand, keep payment devices isolated from the office and guest networks, and help you complete PCI DSS 4.0 questionnaires per merchant ID with evidence instead of guesswork.

Acquired Unit Onboarding

Buying units from another franchisee brings unknown hardware, accounts and remote tools. We inventory the location, remove unknown access, reset credentials, replace unsupported devices and migrate the unit to your standard. You get a short report on what you inherited and what we changed before it joins your network.

Why Choose LayerLogix?

Serving businesses throughout the Greater Houston area including Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Nationwide.

Consistency Across Every Location

When units share one design, a fix at one store applies everywhere, and an issue at unit twelve gets solved by someone who already knows exactly how it’s built. Drift stops being the reason things break at the worst moment.

Openings That Hit the Brand’s Date

Early circuit orders, staged equipment and backup cellular keep IT from being the reason a grand opening slides. Training and soft-open days happen on real systems instead of hand-written tickets and cash-only sales, and your opening team isn’t troubleshooting Wi-Fi.

Clear Lines With the Franchisor

You know what the brand supports and what you own. When an issue crosses that line, we handle the conversation with the brand help desk and bring logs, so your managers aren’t stuck relaying technical details between two support teams.

Payroll That Reaches Your People

MFA and verification on deposit changes stop the scam where an attacker emails HR pretending to be an employee. Your crew gets paid correctly, and you avoid the painful conversation and repayment that follow a redirected paycheck.

Our Process

1
Read your franchise technology requirements, then inventory each unit’s circuit, network, PCs, cameras and the accounts managers use daily.
2
Draft a unit standard with you that meets brand requirements and fixes the gaps the brand doesn’t cover, and agree on it with you before any unit changes.
3
Roll the standard out unit by unit during off-hours, starting with the stores that cause the most calls or carry the most sales.
4
Set up the manager access checklist, MFA on payroll, banking and owner email, and a password manager for any logins that must stay shared.
5
Confirm card data flow per merchant ID with the brand and processor, and complete PCI questionnaires with supporting evidence.
6
Meet quarterly to plan openings, acquisitions, brand-mandated upgrades and remodels, so IT work is scheduled before it becomes urgent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our franchisor provides IT support. Why would we need you?▼
Most brand help desks support the brand’s software, such as the POS, ordering portal or service platform, and stop there. Your internet circuit, firewall, Wi-Fi, back-office PCs, email, cameras, printers and payroll security usually fall to you. Some brands publish technology requirements but leave execution to the operator. We cover the parts the brand doesn’t, work alongside their help desk when an issue crosses over, and keep your units consistent with whatever standards the franchise agreement sets.
Who is responsible for PCI compliance in a franchise?▼
It depends on the franchise agreement and how payments are set up, but in many systems each franchisee entity is the merchant of record and has to validate PCI DSS for its own merchant IDs, even when the brand chose the POS and processor. Read your agreement and confirm with your processor. We map how card data flows at your units, keep payment devices segmented, document the setup and help you complete the self-assessment questionnaires with evidence. The attestation is yours to sign.
Can you work with brand-mandated systems we can’t change?▼
Yes. Most of our work is around those systems rather than inside them. We don’t alter the brand’s POS configuration or reporting tools without their approval. We make sure those systems have a reliable network, a protected zone, managed PCs to run on and named accounts where the brand supports them. If the brand requires a particular firewall or network vendor, we work with that equipment. If something they require creates a security gap, we tell you and help you raise it with the brand.
How do you handle a group that owns units across several brands?▼
Multi-brand operators have different technology requirements per franchise, but the same back office: one finance team, one payroll, one owner email and often one HR system. We build a shared foundation for the corporate side and a unit standard per brand that respects each franchisor’s rules. Access management and security monitoring run across all of it. You see one view of your locations instead of separate playbooks that nobody keeps current.
What should we check before buying units from another franchisee?▼
Ask for an inventory of network gear, PCs, cameras and any remote access tools, plus a list of accounts and who holds them. Expect it to be incomplete. Before close, we can do a technical review of a unit or two to flag unsupported hardware, unknown remote tools, shared credentials and exposed devices. After close, we reset credentials, remove the old owner’s access and migrate the units to your standard before connecting them to your other stores.
Do you provide on-site help at our units?▼
Most issues get solved remotely by our U.S.-based engineers during business hours: a frozen PC, a locked-out manager, a Wi-Fi problem, a failed printer. For active security incidents, there’s after-hours emergency response. When a unit needs hands-on work, we go on-site near our offices or dispatch a vetted local technician who works under our engineer’s direction, using your unit standard as the checklist. That keeps work consistent across states without you managing a list of local contractors.
Do you provide Franchise Businesses IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers franchise businesses IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. For most Houston-area clients we can be on-site the same day when something needs hands-on attention, and our help desk is available during business hours, with after-hours emergency support. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Franchise Businesses IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
