Do we need SOC 2 to sell to co-ops and agribusinesses?▼
Not always, but you'll need to answer their security questionnaire, and larger buyers increasingly ask for a SOC 2 report. Building SOC 2 aligned controls early makes either path easier. We help you write policies, implement controls and collect evidence so you can answer questionnaires now and decide later when to engage an audit firm. LayerLogix doesn't issue SOC 2 reports; an independent CPA firm does. We get your program ready for that audit.
Is farm data actually regulated?▼
There's no single federal farm data law today. What governs it is mostly your contracts with growers and partners, the FTC's authority over unfair or deceptive data practices and state privacy laws where they apply. Many companies also follow the Farm Bureau's Privacy and Security Principles for Farm Data voluntarily. Because your obligations live largely in contracts and your own privacy policy, your counsel should review those. We make sure your practices actually match what those documents promise.
Our engineers work on Macs and Linux. Can you manage that?▼
Yes. We manage Macs with the same rigor as Windows, using device management, disk encryption, OS update enforcement and endpoint detection. Linux workstations get a lighter but real baseline. Developers keep the admin rights they genuinely need, through controlled elevation rather than permanent root on every machine. The goal is a fleet you can describe in a security questionnaire with a straight face, without slowing down anyone's build. Engineers notice the difference mostly in fewer surprises.
How do you help with field device security without slowing hardware development?▼
We advise and review rather than own the firmware. Common gaps are shared default passwords, update packages that aren't signed, debug services left enabled in production and provisioning processes that expose secrets. We review your design and processes with your hardware engineers, suggest practical fixes and help prioritize them against your roadmap. Your team makes the engineering decisions. We also secure the cloud side devices talk to, which is often where an attacker would aim first.
What happens if a cloud key or repo gets leaked?▼
You follow a runbook we've already written together. It covers revoking and rotating the credential, checking cloud logs for misuse, scoping what data could have been accessed and preserving evidence. Our engineers provide after-hours emergency response for active incidents, so a leak found at night still gets worked. Decisions about notifying growers, partners or regulators belong with your leadership and counsel; we give them a clear technical timeline to work from.
We're a small startup. Isn't this overkill?▼
The basics aren't. SSO with MFA, managed laptops, cloud guardrails and secret scanning cost little at your size and prevent the most common ways young companies get breached. They're also far easier to set up now than after your next hiring push. We don't push an enterprise program on a seed-stage team. We start with the controls that protect grower data and help close deals, then add policy and audit work when your buyers or investors call for it.

What does AgTech Companies IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
