Game cards loading, waivers signed, and birthday parties booked without a hitch

Entertainment Venues IT Services

In a family entertainment center, the game card system is the cash register, the reward counter and the reason families come back, so when card readers on the arcade floor go offline on a Saturday afternoon, the whole building stalls.

At a glance

Bowling centers, arcades, trampoline parks, escape rooms and mini-golf venues also run online party bookings with deposits, digital waivers full of parents’ and kids’ details, self-service kiosks and a guest Wi-Fi network crowded by teenagers.

We run IT and security for independent entertainment venues and multi-park operators in Texas and nationwide.

We keep the network under game readers and kiosks solid, isolate vendor-managed lanes and attractions, protect waiver and booking data, and keep card payments in their own zone.

IT that keeps game cards swiping, waivers flowing, party rooms booked.

Game card readers, kiosks, waivers and party bookings on a network built for packed weekends and noisy arcades.

Arcade floor to party room

Weekend crowds, card readers and kids’ data

Entertainment venues earn most of their money in waves: weekends, school breaks, holidays and rainy days. In those hours, every reader, kiosk and booking has to work, and a lot of families hand over personal details at the door. Here’s where these venues get stuck, and what we build to keep them moving.

01 · The pressure

The game card is the whole economy

Guests load value at kiosks or the counter, swipe at games, earn tickets or points and redeem at the prize counter. Lanes, laser tag and attractions often run their own vendor systems tied into the main point of sale. Party packages get booked online with deposits, and every jumper or climber needs a signed waiver before entering. When the network under the card readers fails on a Saturday, games stop taking swipes, the line at the kiosk wraps around the lobby, and refund requests pile up.

  • Every game reader depends on the network
  • Waivers required before guests enter
  • Party deposits booked weeks ahead online

02 · How it breaks

Flat networks, vendor tools and leaky waivers

Game readers, kiosks, lane scoring, cameras, the office PC and guest Wi-Fi often share one flat network installed piece by piece over years. Equipment vendors connect remotely with tools nobody tracks. Waiver tablets sit on the counter logged in, with the full history of parents’ names, phone numbers, birth dates and children’s details. A manager’s email gets phished, and the attacker changes the payout on the online booking account or issues game card value to themselves.

  • Game readers on the same network as guests
  • Vendor remote tools nobody tracks
  • Waiver tablets left logged in at the counter

03 · What we change

Zone the building, control the vendors

We segment the venue into zones: game card readers and kiosks, payments, vendor attractions and lanes, cameras, back office and guest Wi-Fi, with wired drops and access points sized for a full house. Vendor remote access moves to a controlled path with MFA and logging. Waiver tablets go under device management, locked to the waiver app, with history access limited to managers. Owner and manager accounts on booking, waiver and game card platforms get MFA and alerts on value adjustments.

  • Game readers and kiosks on their own zone
  • Vendor access by session with logging
  • Waiver tablets locked to the waiver app

04 · The after

Saturdays that run themselves

Readers keep swiping when the building is packed, and a failing switch triggers an alert before the arcade goes dark. Vendors still service lanes and attractions, but only through a path you can see. Parents’ and kids’ details stay inside the waiver platform, not on an open tablet. Booking deposits land in your account. And when your insurer asks about data protection, you can describe exactly where waiver and payment data live and who can reach them.

  • Readers stay online on the busiest days
  • Vendor access visible and logged
  • Waiver data kept off open devices

What We Offer

Comprehensive solutions tailored for Houston-area businesses

Game Card System Network

Card readers on every game, kiosks and the redemption counter all depend on a network that can’t blink. We design wired drops and switching for the arcade floor, monitor reader connectivity, keep spare switches on hand, and coordinate with your game card system provider when an issue lives inside their software or reader hardware.

Vendor Attraction Boundaries

Bowling scoring and pinsetter interfaces, laser tag, VR attractions and ride controllers usually belong to their vendors. We don’t reconfigure them. We put them in their own network zone, block paths to payments and the office, and move vendor remote access onto a controlled, logged path so you always know who connected and when.

Waiver Data Protection

Digital waivers capture parents’ names, contact details, birth dates and children’s information. We manage waiver tablets and kiosks, lock them to the waiver app, restrict history and export rights to managers, and check retention settings with you. Paper waivers from before the switch get stored securely or destroyed according to your counsel’s guidance.

Party Booking and Deposit Security

Online booking platforms hold party packages, deposits, parent contact details and payout settings. We put MFA on owner and manager accounts, alert on payout and banking changes, give party coordinators limited roles, and review which integrations can read booking data. Deposits keep landing where they belong.

Self-Service Kiosks and Counter POS

Kiosks for game card loading, tickets and waivers take cards with nobody watching. We lock them down, inspect readers for tampering, keep payment devices in a dedicated zone, and help you complete your PCI DSS 4.0 questionnaire. Counter POS terminals get the same treatment, plus named staff logins for value adjustments.

Guest Wi-Fi Built for Crowds

Teenagers and parents expect Wi-Fi while they wait, and some attractions use apps. We install business-grade access points sized for peak crowds, isolate guest devices from each other and from your operations, apply fair-use bandwidth limits, and keep guest traffic far away from game readers, kiosks and cameras.

Busy Days Stay Profitable

Monitored readers and a properly sized network keep games taking swipes during the peak hours that pay your bills. Fewer outages mean fewer refunds, shorter kiosk lines and families who leave planning their next visit instead of their next review.

Game Card Value You Can Trust

MFA, named staff logins and alerts on manual value adjustments stop both outside attackers and inside shortcuts from loading free value onto cards. Your redemption costs reflect real play rather than quiet abuse that nobody notices for months.

Families’ Data Handled Responsibly

Waivers contain information about children, and parents notice how you treat it. Locked-down tablets, limited history access and sensible retention show that the venue takes that responsibility seriously, which matters to parents and to your insurer.

Vendors Who Can’t Wander

Attraction and lane vendors still service their equipment remotely, but only through a logged path into their own zone. A compromised vendor account or tool can’t reach your payment systems, waivers or office files, even on a busy weekend.

Our Process

1
Walk the venue during a busy period to see game readers, kiosks, lanes, attractions, waivers, cameras and guest Wi-Fi working under real load.
2
Inventory every vendor system and remote access tool, and agree with each vendor on a controlled access path into their own zone.
3
Build the segmented network with wired drops for the arcade floor, sized access points and spare switching, cutting over during closed hours.
4
Lock down waiver tablets and kiosks, limit waiver history to managers, and review retention with you and your counsel’s guidance.
5
Add MFA and value-adjustment alerts to booking, waiver and game card platforms, and set named logins for counter staff.
6
Check in before summer and holiday peaks on capacity, spares, vendor access, staff accounts and your PCI questionnaire.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our game card readers drop offline on busy days. Why?▼
Common causes are a flat network shared with guest Wi-Fi, consumer-grade switches overheating in a back closet, long cable runs or wireless readers fighting for signal in a building full of metal cabinets and phones. We trace the reader network, move readers onto wired connections where possible, separate them from guest traffic, replace weak switching and add monitoring. If the problem is inside the reader firmware or the game card software, we work it with your provider and bring evidence.
Do digital waivers create privacy obligations?▼
They hold personal details about adults and minors, so treat them carefully. Specific legal obligations depend on your state and how you use the data, and your counsel should advise on retention and use. On the IT side, we keep waivers inside the waiver platform rather than exported to spreadsheets, lock tablets to the waiver app, limit who can search history, enable MFA on admin accounts and set retention that matches counsel’s guidance. That keeps the data useful for operations without leaving it exposed.
Can you work on our bowling scoring and attraction systems?▼
We handle the network around them and leave the systems themselves to their makers. Scoring, pinsetter interfaces, laser tag arenas, VR attractions and ride controllers all have vendor support teams who should make changes inside them. We give those systems their own network zone, a stable connection to your POS where integration is required, and a controlled path for vendor remote access. When an issue sits at the boundary, we work it jointly with the vendor.
How do we stop staff from loading free value on game cards?▼
Give every staff member a named login, restrict manual value adjustments and comps to managers, and turn on reports or alerts for adjustments above a threshold. Most game card and venue management platforms support this. We help configure it, set up a regular report for the owner and make sure no one uses a shared manager code. Cameras at the counter and kiosks give you context if a report looks off. Outside attackers face MFA on admin accounts too.
Are self-service kiosks a payment risk?▼
Unattended card readers are where skimmers get planted, and kiosks running general-purpose operating systems can be tampered with if they aren’t locked down. We lock kiosks to their application, keep payment devices in a protected network zone, set up a simple inspection routine for tamper seals and readers, and make sure updates are applied. Your PCI DSS questionnaire covers these devices, and we help you answer it accurately with documentation.
We’re opening a second park. Can you help?▼
Yes, ideally during construction. Cabling for game readers, kiosks, cameras, access points and attraction vendors is far easier before walls and ceilings close. We coordinate with your contractor and each attraction vendor on network requirements, order circuits early, and build the new venue from the same standard as your first. On opening weekend, staff use the same logins and processes, and your reporting covers both sites without extra work or a second set of passwords.
Do you provide Entertainment Venues IT Services in Houston and nearby areas?▼
Yes. LayerLogix is based in the Greater Houston area and delivers entertainment venues IT services to businesses across Houston and the surrounding communities, including The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Conroe, Cypress, and Pearland. For most Houston-area clients we can be on-site the same day when something needs hands-on attention, and our help desk is available during business hours, with after-hours emergency support. Call 713-571-2390 to check coverage for your specific address.
What does Entertainment Venues IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
