Our scale ticket software only runs on an older version of Windows. Can you secure it?▼
Often, yes, without forcing an upgrade your vendor won't support. We isolate that PC on its own network segment, block it from browsing the internet, allow only the connections it needs to reach the accounting server and remove local admin rights from daily users. We also add endpoint protection that supports the older OS where available. Meanwhile we work with your ticketing vendor on a supported upgrade path and schedule it outside harvest, so you aren't stuck on the old build forever.
Do you work on the scale itself?▼
No. The indicator, load cells and calibration belong to your scale service company, and legal-for-trade adjustments have to stay with them and your state weights and measures program. We handle the IT side: the PC running ticketing software, the serial or network connection from the indicator, printers, remote displays and the link back to the office. When there's a problem we can't place, we get on a call with your scale technician so you're not paying two companies to point at each other.
How do you keep remote elevators connected during harvest?▼
Each remote site gets a managed firewall with a primary connection and a cellular backup that takes over on its own. We set traffic priority so tickets and accounting sessions win over everything else, and automated monitoring tells us when a site fails over so we can chase the primary carrier. If a site has no reliable service at all, we look at whether ticketing can run locally and sync later, depending on what your software supports.
What does a producer payment fraud attempt look like?▼
Usually it's an email that appears to come from a producer or their bookkeeper, asking you to send this season's settlements to a new account. Sometimes the producer's real mailbox has been compromised, so the message lands inside an existing thread and looks completely normal. The defense is part technology and part procedure: we flag suspicious messages and mailbox rule changes, and you adopt a rule that bank changes are confirmed by calling a number already on file, never one in the email.
Do you support licensed warehouse recordkeeping?▼
We support the systems that hold those records. For warehouses licensed under the U.S. Warehouse Act or a state program, receipt, inventory and grading records have to be kept and produced for examiners. We make sure they're stored with proper access controls, backed up immutably and recoverable. We don't interpret warehouse regulations or tell you what your examiner expects, since that's for your management and counsel, but we make the IT side something you can explain clearly.
Can you help when our merchandiser works from home?▼
Yes. We set up a managed laptop with endpoint detection, VPN or zero-trust access to the office, MFA on email and brokerage portals and a separate profile for market data apps. We also check the home network basics, like the router admin password and firmware. The goal is that a merchandiser can watch markets and enter contracts from the kitchen table without that laptop becoming the easiest way into your grain accounting system.
