Our sales reps use their own phones. Can you still protect company data?▼
Yes. For personal phones we use app protection rather than full device control. Company apps like your CRM, email and e-signature tools sit inside a managed container that requires a PIN, blocks copying data into personal apps and can be wiped remotely without touching the rep's own photos or texts. For company tablets that carry credit applications, we use full device management. Either way, when a rep leaves, the company data leaves the device the same day.
How do we stop reps from taking our leads when they leave?▼
You can't stop someone from remembering a customer, but you can make it hard to export your pipeline. We limit CRM export and reporting permissions to managers, turn on audit logging where the platform supports it, keep company data off personal devices with app protection, and run offboarding from a checklist that shuts off CRM, email, lender portals and design tools at once. Your sales agreements and attorney handle the legal side of non-solicitation.
Do any regulations apply to solar installers?▼
A few can, depending on how you sell. If your team calls or texts leads using automated dialers or prerecorded messages, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act governs consent, and solar marketing has drawn its share of TCPA lawsuits. If you take card payments, PCI DSS applies. State breach notification laws cover homeowner data you hold. We're not lawyers, so your attorney decides what applies; we make sure your systems keep consent records, protect data and support the obligations counsel identifies.
Do you work on inverters or monitoring hardware?▼
No. Inverters, gateways and monitoring hardware belong to the manufacturer's support channel and your installers' training. Our part is the IT side: protecting the installer and support accounts your team uses on manufacturer monitoring portals, making sure those accounts have MFA and named users, and removing access when someone leaves. If a homeowner's system has a firmware or configuration issue, that goes through the manufacturer or your field team, and we help keep the accounts used to request it secure.
What's the risk of shared logins on lender portals?▼
With a shared login, you can't tell which rep submitted a credit application, changed a loan amount or downloaded a homeowner's documents. When someone leaves, you have to reset the password for everyone, and many teams simply don't. If the shared password leaks, an outsider can see financing details for every customer. Most financing platforms support individual users. We set those up, add MFA where it's offered and keep the account list current so access matches who actually works for you.
How should we store permit and interconnection files?▼
In one shared place with structure, not scattered across laptops and inboxes. We set up a project folder template covering contract, design, permit, inspection, interconnection and PTO, with version history and permissions by role. We back it up separately and test restores. That way a coordinator who quits doesn't take the only copy of an approval letter with them, and when a utility or inspector asks for a resubmittal months later, your office finds it in a minute.

What does Solar Installers IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
