Can you support our ETRM without replacing our vendor?▼
Yes, and that's how we prefer it. Your ETRM vendor owns the application, its configuration and its upgrades. We own what sits around it: the servers or cloud tenancy, SQL databases, network paths, user access, backups and monitoring. In practice that means we coordinate patching with their release notes, give their support staff a brokered and logged way in instead of a standing VPN account, and make sure their upgrade doesn't land during your scheduling window. If you run a hosted or SaaS ETRM, our focus shifts to identity, endpoints and the integrations feeding it.
How do you handle trade communications recordkeeping?▼
If you're a CFTC-registered entity, your recordkeeping obligations under 17 CFR 1.31 and related rules shape how long records are kept and how they must be retrievable. Your compliance lead and counsel set that policy, since we aren't lawyers. Our job is the plumbing: making sure turret lines, mobile calls, chat and email are actually captured, stored in a way that can't be quietly altered, retained for the period you specify and searchable when you need them. We also test capture regularly, because a recording system that silently stopped working months ago is a common and painful discovery.
What happens if ransomware hits during trading hours?▼
First, the controls are there to make it unlikely: allowlisting blocks unknown executables, EDR flags encryption behavior, and managed detection and response can isolate an infected machine automatically. If an incident does land, our engineers start containment right away, with after-hours emergency response for active incidents. We'll work with your head trader and risk manager on what has to stay up, often a clean workstation with exchange access and a view of positions, while affected systems are isolated. Recovery uses immutable backups that were tested beforehand. Any notification decisions go through your counsel and insurer.
Do you manage ERCOT, PJM or MISO portal access and certificates?▼
We manage the IT side of that access. Market participants typically have a mix of digital certificates, named portal accounts and API credentials for scheduling and settlement systems, each with its own administrator role and renewal date. We keep an inventory tied to named people, track renewals so nothing expires at the worst moment, install and protect certificates on the right machines, and revoke access promptly when someone leaves. Your designated user security administrator still approves who gets what in the ISO's own systems; we make sure the endpoints and accounts holding that access are locked down.
How do you stop fake wire instructions on settlement invoices?▼
Business email compromise in trading usually looks routine: a counterparty's thread continues as normal, but the bank details on the next invoice are new. We add impersonation and lookalike-domain detection to your mail system, flag external senders clearly, and alert on suspicious inbox forwarding rules that attackers create to hide their tracks. The most important control is procedural, though. We help your back office set up a rule that any change to payment instructions gets verified by phone using a number already on file, never the one in the email. That single step stops most of these attempts.
We have an in-house IT person and quant developers. Does that work?▼
It works well. Plenty of trading firms keep someone in-house who knows the models, the desk and the ETRM quirks. We can run co-managed IT where we take on security monitoring, patching, backups, help desk overflow and the compliance documentation, while your staff keep ownership of trading applications and analytics. For quant developers, we set up separate development environments and code repositories with proper access controls, so research work doesn't need local admin on a production trading workstation. Everyone gets clear lanes and a shared ticketing view.

What does Energy Trading Firms IT Services cost for a Houston business?▼
Pricing depends on your size and what you need, so we do not publish a one-size-fits-all number — but Houston businesses generally pay a flat, predictable monthly fee rather than surprise hourly bills. We start with a free, no-obligation assessment of your current setup, then give you a clear quote in plain English with no hidden costs. That way you know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before you commit.
